Requesting Type-R B18cR n/a Build Advice
Hello all you motorheads. I just freshened up my 98 Civic coupe with a 1997 JDM ITR engine with the JDM LSD 4.75 tranny.
As a baseline with i/h/e, VAFC, and alum flywheel we put down 169 hp and 120 ft/lbs. (please bear in mind that it is a fully featured motor with p/s and a/c)
I am requesting advice on valvetrain components to work well with the stock bottom end and Hondata engine management. I am pretty set on Toda springs and retainers. I have personal experience tuning with Skunk cam gears and like them because they have more adj. bolts than most. I am up in the air on camshaft options. I have researched these camshafts and many others, but would like suggestions and support from you folks who have more experience with this engine. I am considering:
Skunk spec2
Toda B
Buddy Club 3.
I want to maintain good daily drivability and traffic friendliness but would like to pick up hp and tq across the entire RPM range. I would also like camshafts which would be compatible with a future bottom end build with 11.5 c/r, 84mm bore, sleeving, blueprinting/balancing. Please offer your suggestions with support (preferably from experience with this engine). Thanks!!
