When I installed my catch can, i had to plug up that hole for the black box with a plug...

i used honda bond around it and now its basically baked on there and dry

uhh i got a custom one with my custom catch can. i just reused the rubber o ring, applied a coat of hondabond around it and just tapped it in slowly...a little bit of it oozed out after i did that and i was able to use my finger to get it all the way around the seam (kinda like when you caulk a bathroom tub... )

i had this same problem, i had replaced the o ring. turns out that the bottom of the box where there was a seam that was supposed to be welded was cracked. and the whole time the oil was leaking from there, instead of the o-ring. i think it was from the tab where the bottom most bolt goes... hope this helps, dont have any pics.

Happened to my breather box on my '97 as well. Where the lower mounting bracket joins the box, there seems to be a couple tack welds and thats about it.

I took a breather off of a spare motor I had ('00 JDM ITR) and lone behold, the bracket has full welds around the joining area. Go figure huh? So it looks like JDM motors have a better breather box as well!

Anyhow, go look for a JDM ITR breather box, it should last the life of your car.

Same with my 97. I just replaced it with a new one from the dealer.
