Default Need advice on buying an integra type r

Hello Honda tech, I am new here but I am planning on becoming an active person in the community, that's if everything goes like the plan. Here's my problem. I am 19 years old and planing on buying my first car, owned by me, till now I had 2 cars which were not mine (a Ford escort mk IV and currently I drive a hyundai getz). I narrowed it down to 3 options, hyundai coupe 2007, Toyota celica 2002 and my favourite one, the Honda integra type r 2000.
The model I found is a black type r from Germany for around 4500€,it has 205k km on the clock and a service history, apparently it work fine but it has some body issues, the paint is kind of dull and the normal car park dings. These I can live with and fix in time, but my question is, should I be worried about the many km this car has seen? I practically fell in love with it(even though I haven't seen it yet), and after reading through this forum I know this is the car I want, but I don't want to get over my head, I don't have much money to spend and I don't want to save money for a new engine. I am planning on using it as a daily driver in the city. What's your advice ht?

Ps : I live in Romania, to see the car I need to go to Germany, so I need to be sure about this before traveling all that distance. Please help!

Don't buy one if it will be your only car.

What is it you love about the R? Have you ever driven or ridden in a standard integra? The R is a special car but it's not for everyone. You won't have the creature comforts of a newer car (gps, quality stereo system, etc). I had two integras before the R so I knew right away the differences between the standard Integra and the R the moment I sat in her.

Before traveling a great distance if you've never been in or driven an integra see if you can test drive one first. 200,000 kilometers is about 125,000 miles which isn't bad at all. Most B series and especially the C5 burn oil.

Can't go wrong with a R. Yes the C5's tend to burn oil. No sunroof, etc... its a basic "race car" in alot of peoples eyes. Just please don't make it your daily driver and run it to half a million miles! haha

lol, well a daily driver for me would be to go to college and back home again, mostly short city runs, let's say I currently do in the getz 10-15km/day 20 max so it won't be driven that much. I will also have the getz as a secondary car.
And the only creature comforts I need are the electric windows, power steering, recaro seats(I had those in the escort as well and really liked them :D) and a/c, the stereo system I can build in time, I saw integras with 2DIN stereo system and I can mount one in time and also change the standard speakers with some better ones.
I am going a bit blind as I've never driven one but that engine sounds fantastic (I've been impresed by a turbo 1.6 diesel with 130HP) and I heard people talk about how it drives so I am pretty sure I'll like it. It is a shame there aren't so many here where I live, I would have enjoyed to take one for a test drive.
I believe it's a better choice than the coupe or the cellica, it definetely is the most interesting of the bunch. Should I go for it? :D

You can imagine the answer you'll get to that on an ITR forum...

But surely you want to use the Getz day to day and keep the ITR for track/fun drives. If you do buy it I'm sure the drive from Germany back to Romania will be amazing. What's car theft like in Romania? It may be wrong but I have this impression that a lot of cars stolen in the UK etc end up in Eastern Europe...

It's ok I guess, didn't hear much about it, I know it's one of the top stolen cars in america but in europe it's quite a rare sight, don't think many thieves think twice when they see it.
What you are saying is that in under no circumstances can it be used sucesfuly as an eveyday car? haha

Ha hell no they can be used everyday no problem. Being rare could make it more of a target, but up to you. If you are keeping a hyundai getz as well that would be the car I would leave parked out anywhere day to day!

I daily drove mine for 6 years prior to becoming a track/weekend car. In the US we definitely have challenges with theft even with standard integras. Crazy thing is the car is almost 2 decades old!

To the op, the least you can do is ask the seller to send you a video tape of the compression on all four cylinders, and if they are good, take that long drive. If he refuse, look for another caR.

This sounds better and better :D I will ask about the compresion, is that an usual problem? I have no garage so the type r would be parked in the car park, wich I don't think would be that much of a problem, it's a quiet part of the town where I live. How is the fuel consumption on it in city driving? I am asking about it when you drive it unde 4500-5000 rpm.

Consumption wise on good fuel I get about 350miles out of my ITR from a full tank (dont use supermarket fuel its garbage) which is about 560km.

Yeah, I'll also invest on a good alarm and do most of the stuff written on this forum about protecting the integra :D
The fuel consumption is actually pretty good, almost 24mpg if it has a 13l tank, this car sound better and better by the minute :D

On the daily driving part comfort wise id say its one of the most comfortable cars ive ever driven compared to modern cars. Im currently driving a 2015 seat Leon and would much rather be in my R.

Yes, it isn't that great for 4+ hour long road trips, although i wouldn't care(4+ hours of ******* fun) but for daily driving, it's soooo comfortable! When I drive my mom's new crosstrek, or my girls 2008 corolla s, i just want my car back :/
lol

lol
Last summer I drove my R to a car show down south, took about 5 hours to get there as we didn't use motorways and had no problems, where as in my seat the seats are too hard so after a few hours driving I really need a break lol.

Unfortunately the seller didn't return any of my calls or emails I am not planning to go to Germany just to see it and maybe it has a major flaw or some big problem... I planned the trip so on my way back I would race around nurburgring lol. Really wanted this car, maybe I'll buy one in a few years as a second car. Wish me luck, I believe I'll buy the hyundai coupe.

I just got one imported from Japan. Absolutely love the thing. It's not perfect (theyre 15-20 year old cars now), but if you can locate one with reasonably low km, and a body that isn't plagued by rust I'd go for it.

this will be my 3rd Honda motor (have previously owned a 90 GS, and 00 S2000. I like the B-series and I find they're not difficult to work on. They're all quite similar and kinda bulletproof if well kept.

Enjoy!
