Default Looks like I'm getting a JDM ITR front end...

Well not by choice but I was driving home from work and some ******* pulled out right in front of me. I was going about 35-45 and I didn't even have a chance to break. I'm okay but the R has seen better days. I'm going to buy a JDM ITR front end (HID) from passwordjdm so I hope I get everything I need. I don't know if I need to get anything else from Acura because everything on my front end is totaled. My buddy is going to come by tomorrow or tuesday to give me an estimate so I'm going to go from there. If anyone has any advice it would be well appericated. Now here are some pics.

Before

After

Yikes. Sorry about your poor R.

It's sort of hard to tell, but in the last pic, are you showing that the passenger door is bowing out from the body at the top?

btw, are you going thru insurance? there's quite a bit of damage there, beyond the fenders/hood/bumper/rad support/etc

Hm. I hope you get the 'new' stuff from Password JDM. I was going to get the used, but all he has is a mixture of new and used, and the used parts are a little banged up.

Sorry to read about the car, though.

Yep it is a little bit.

Yeah, it was his fault so hopefully his insurance covers everything. There is a lot of damage so as long as its not totaled I'm going to take care of everything. I believe the header is messed up, the air bags went off but the frame is straight. Do you know what I might need to get from Acura for the jdm front end that might of been damaged?

I think I'm getting everything used because they don't sell new front ends with HID but I'm going to pick it up from them so I will make sure everything is good.

that's a shame and an unfortunate way to get a jdm front airbag deployment too, yikes, i hope you dont let them total it, otherwise another one down.

good luck.

Well I haven't been thru this before so I'm not experienced on it. However from looking at your pictures, the lower front beam at the bottom of the radiator is tweaked pretty bad (damage pic 1), and it looks like at least the passenger side support the fender attaches to is bent (damage pic 5).

With those members of the chassis tweaked, the body panels, any damage to engine or tranny mounts (?), exhaust manifold, and the two airbags deploying.. and then the issue with the pass. door not being flush, I don't know.. it's going to be costly, but I can't flat out say it's totalled, one way or the other.

Try an archived search for JDM conversion and you'll likely find a thread or two from ppl who went with the JDM front after a front end collision.

If it's totalled you could buy it back from the insurance co.

Yeah I'm fine, my knee is swollen but otherwise I'm good. I will hit you up if I need anything but I won't know until I get an estimate and then I will start to tear it apart.

man im sorry to say this but i have a feeling your r is going to be totaled... i believe new air bags alone run something like 2000 a piece brand new from honda... there has got to be a bit of frame damage to get the door to bow like that.... and the cost of the jdm hid front your looking at about 4000 for brand new HID front (check here for pricing on brand new jdm itr front end parts: http://store.yahoo.com/yhst-14....html ) so with just the air bags and a new front your already at probably over 8000.... add all the labor and paint and other misc parts into that total and your probably up in the 16000 repair total range.... glad your alright but man i think the r has seen better dayz

I hope its not totalled but if it is I'm not going to let it go to waste and I will buy it back. Then I will just re-build it myself and make a track car.

Holy frickin heck! A scimilar thing happened to me in a GS-R I owned. I'll put $20.00 on it saying that the damage is close to 9 grand. I would be interested what the police report says, and what the guy who pulled out in front of you said.

JDM front end? Contact penpen. She just got done putting hers on so I'm quite sure she could give you some good details on what is involved and what is needed. Keep us posted

My buddy was the first cop on the scene and he said that the guy can't cut across traffic like that. What happen was there was two left hand turn lanes, the right lane was was backed up with about 30 cars so I jumped in the left one which had 0 and it was green so I was going full speed southbound and someone decided to let this guy through so he could come out then turn left going northbound. Well he popped out right it front of me. I'm about 99% sure it was his fault but I won't know until they do the investigation.

Lets hope it's only 9k because that would really help me out. I have a lot of replacement parts already from my brothers totalled gsr, like the air bags which are about $2000. Not to mention my buddy at Acura gives me the employee discount which will help me pocket a lot of cash.

I cannot stand when people do that: Two lanes going the same way, person in right lane lets someone out who needs to make an left out of a parking lot. I hope the guy who waved this person out was given a ticket or your cop buddy got his insurance information. It sounds to me that the person who waved the guy out is at fault. Which resulted in you and the guy you hit, having a bad day.

$2000 for an airbag! Man...save yourself $1,500 and replace with a SPOON wheel. Hope it all works out for you, though I'd be seeking the information on the guy that waved the person out in front of you.

Those people didn't even stop. By the time I came to and got the guy who I hit respond because he was dazed bad all those cars were gone. Not one person stayed as a witness. Yeah I think I'm going to go with a jdm itr steering wheel which I can get for $300-500 and I already have the passager side air bag so I just get to pocket that cash. I going to probably get a nice header and radiator too because the header is bent and the radiator is cracked. Those two items are almost $1500 new so I'm going to order a smsp header and a aftermarket radiator. Can anyone recommend a good radiator?

I have a fluidyne radiator, and a maradyne fan. With some other stuff like my low temp fan switch and thermostat, my car temp gauge needle rarely went higher than the 1/4 marker on the gauge.

That really pisses me off that the guy didn't even stop. What a chicken ****. Hopefully karma will seriously bite him in the *** for that one.

I didn't realize the airbags were that much. I'd like to adjust my guess to 11K.
