Here's my problem... I bought some jdm hid headlights off ebay... i have never installed hid before, but figured that all i had to do was wire the low beam from the car to the low beam to the headlights...

i set my jdm headlight on top of my installed non hid headlights and wire the low beam to the hid low beam wire. i also wire the high beam to the appropriate high beam wire of the hid headlight housing. since i don't have fog light wires yet, and i don't have city lights or whatever wires, i don't bother with them. ok, what is left is the common ground. i have 2 ground wires left from both the low beam and high beam, so i decide that i will ground them to a metal bolt inside the engine bay (and yes, I did check to see if they were good grounds...) anyway, i grounded the common ground of the hid headlights to the same ground that i used for the low beam and high beam. when i turned on the headlights, one of my headlights was flashing really slowly... and weakly. the projector (hid part) was acting like a strobe light!! the other one didn't even turn on. also, i noticed that the foglight bulb was receiving some sort of current because inside the bulb it was orange (as if it was burnt out)!! I checked everything again with my roommate, but when we turned it on, it did the same thing!!

so my question is, is there anything that i did incorrectly??
was wiring all the grounds to the same ground source good or bad, or does it even matter?
and when i'm going to be using hid's, do i need to install a fuse with more amps or whatever?

please enlighten me about hid's! i hope i did not get ripped off by buying these hid's from ebay.

What I did was I used the remaining ground wires from the high and low beam ground wires, connected those together, and connected that wire to a spade connector to the ground plug on the headlight harness. Try that, it should work for you.

There are five "clips" on the HID headlight plug... Ground, low beam, high beam, fog light, and city light. Just make sure that you wired your stuff up to the proper plugs; and if you were fortunate enought to have the actual harness, thats even better... Use a volt meter to test your connections.

If you need help wiring up the rest, let me know... I did all my wiring a few weeks ago, so its still fresh in my mind.

hmmm, i'll rewire and see if it works or not this weekend.... other than that, anymore tips?? thanks guys for your input.

ok, silly me.... i wired them wrong. i wired everything backwards cuz instead of looking at the male plug off the headlights, i looked at the female end of the plug and used that to compare with the diagrams....... what a pain, but i finally figured it out!
