Re: humming noise when steering (Ibuprofen)
Anything that you remember doing 2 weeks ago?
Rubbing fender liner? Lower suspension, different wheels or bigger tires?
Maybe check your PS fluid?
I know I've had some phantom noise on very low speed turning ever since expo4 when part of my passenger fender liner came loose for some reason. Wierd thing I only remember going 1 maybe 2 wheels off on the driver side. But in any case I ziptied it between sessions (which turned into a "permanent" fix to this day), but I'm still convinced it rubs from time to time, though I've never gotten a positive id of where it is... but then again I wouldn't have called it a humming sound per se, and I don't think you'd hear it if you were at a stand still...

Re: humming noise when steering (DC2fanboy)
I had a simalar problem. It sounded like the pump was low on fluid, and when I went to check it the level was fine. It went away before I was able to get under it and check it out. Seems like it was brought on by the cold.

I was just about to post that - how's the weather out your way? PS pumps tend to make more noise when it's cold out.

Re: humming noise when steering (Ibuprofen)
maybe this helps. a long time ago i noticed a similar sound and swore it was from the engine bay.
getting down under the steering wheel it was a rubber boot that goes around the steering rod that was making the same humming sound.
i sprayed it with armor all and it was gone.

Re: humming noise when steering (rw92civic)
As mentioned a couple posts above, the bushing on the steering column shaft where it passes through the firewall may be the problem. It's pretty common for these to make noise, especially in colder weather. There was actually a service bulletin on this for certain year model integras, but in my experience it frequently takes place on any of the 94-01's. Try removing the plastic cover at the bottom of the shaft and lubing the rubber boot/bushing.
