to do it while downshifting, you must rev the engine while in neutral, to "match" the rpm you will be at in the lower gear. Makes for a very smooth downshift. Now doing this while braking is a little trickier, especially with my size 9 kicks

Re: How to rev match ? (wantmorepower)
You shouldn't have to rev match while up shifting unless you have been coasting in neutral on the street. Best advice I could give you is practise, practise, practise. I find the best way to do it while braking is to make sure no parts of your feet is touching the floor of the car (it should just be touching the brake and gas). Or if you have wide enough feet or close enough pedals, you can try the side step method (don't ask me cause I got used to doing it the method I explained above).
Be nice to your tranny, rev match. Be nice to your clutch, rev match properly (correct rpms)

Let me guess. People are telling you that you're granny shifting? And not double clutching like you should?

I`ve spoken to ITR#231, a very experienced track driver who now sold his R.
He also said you just CAN double clutch, but it`s a not a must.

You should have seen the english version. This is from the movie right after the first streetrace "You almost had me? You never had me. You never had your car. Granny shifting, not double clutching like you should...."

I know this is Off Topic but i'd rather not start a new thread.
Is it faster to dump the clutch between each shift at redline, or to feather it alittle? That is, is barking the front tires as you change gears good or slows you down?

only revmatch when downshifting, it saves your synchros. thats how my bro pulled off 195k miles in his old civic using the original clutch and tranny.

Re: How to rev match ? (EagleR)
I sometimes double-clutch downshift when slowing down, like exiting the interstate or something, but usually just to practice doing it smoothly. I ALWAYS rev-match, though, it's become a habit when downshifting, just blip the throttle a bit while the clutch is in, before engaging a lower gear.
