Im in seattle and have 3 rhd integras. I want to know how to register them legally.

I think the problem is not that they're right hand drive, so much as that they were built for another market. Were they imported legally, with all the proper paperwork etc?

Bumper supports, windshield needs to be replaced, there are some other things but if you brought them over illegally there is no way you will be able to register them. You need to have all of the paperwork from customs, etc.

exactly.. it has to do how the car is built, parts etc.. especially because JDM cars do not meet crash test requirements. Therefore no insurancy company would want to register it because repair would be too costly.. i.e. ITR haves a mini bumper suport bar thats not larger then an ordinary tooth pick so in a little bumper fender bender you will have a far greater damage on the JDM car then a US spec one.

But to register it, i've heard of people telling DMV that its a kit car.. basically a car put together.. and they will skip many visual inspections but i guess brakes, smog, lights etc.. still applies.

just go to DMV and get as much info as you can on what you need to do to register a kit car... tell them you built it from scratch part by part..

I've also heard that if you really want to get a imported car, you need to buy two of them. One of them will do the crash test, etc... and then you have to modified parts to meet the US safety rules.... But not sure..

I was planning to import the new Integra/RSX Type R.. but not sure now.. it might cost too much to get it and make it legal to drive in the US. But definately check that web site out... There might be some info that will help you a lot.

there is someone in vancouver washington state who has a RHD 98specr that he had imported wrecked repairable. he used to be on this board and was selling it a few months back. you might want to search around and see if there is still any contact info on him.

registering them is not a problem, its like $8000 , getting a tittle is the problem.....my friends sell japanese cars in the US legally (registered/everything).... the name of the company is DTR Racing, if you are interested in any car from japan ..e-mail me..

I know the guy from Vancouver with the RHD 98 R. Im pretty sure he doesen't have the paperwork. There are 6 RHD Type R's in Vancouver and Portland that I know of. Pretty cool.

i'm lost... how do you register a car without a title for it? at least where i live you can't insure a vehicle w/o a title...
