With most auto sales on eBay I believe the buyer usually puts down a deposit at the end of the auction, and finalizes payment later. Is it possible for you to find out if a downpayment was received?

I don't think a price raising stunt is as likely as you're suggesting. eBay keeps records of bidding available online throughout the auction. For privacy eBay only shows the first and last letter of each user name that places a bid with the number of transactions they've made on the website shown in parentheses after their name. I followed that auction until the end and I can tell you that there were very few if ANY repeat bidders.

That seems to be the best advice from everyone. Seems like it might not matter much because of flood title though. I guess it depends on the collector.
I know I won't get as much most likely as a clean title one, but I can hope that the buyer isn't trying to be as much a collector as in how good the car is.
Everyone cut me a little break not here to start problems with anyone. Just like talking about cars especially a 97 USDM TYPE R and I don't claim to know everything and I do thank you all for all your advice.

Thank you very much Xian for the compliment! I put a lot of time and money into it. It's always nice to hear someone appreciate all my hard work. I can hope to get a lot of money for it, but it might just be to custom to look for that type of buyer and it sucks that I do have a flood title even though the car is super clean. I can hope though.

Alright everyone! Good news! I contacted the original owner through eBay and he was gracious enough to respond and provide me with some information even though it was really none of my business. From the original owner Kevin:
"Yes the car is paid for and was delivered Wednesday morning to the owner which turned out to be an Acura dealer."
Officially sold for $43,300! Hallelujah!

If it was sold to an "acura dealer"...are they planning to flip it for 60K??? or maybe it is going into a museum. at any rate, atleast its trackable now and only a matter of time before ITR detectives sniff it out.

Also whoever keeps claiming you can tell when this is paid by Paypal is most likely lying. There not giving that info out its a private company not to mention that might not be the way the person was paid. I spoke to the seller real breifly about something else, but Im pretty sure he was paid at least as of yesterday somehow.

Like I said. The car was not paid for and yes that's the car for $21,699... Price inflation scheme

Re: The Holy Grail.. 30K and climbing!!
Why you almost shat yourself? Was I hauling *** or do you like the current setup? If I dont get a good enough bid on Ebay Ill probably try and return to stock as close as possible since thats what collectors want and are paying for. I just hope they dont care as much about the flood damage title which you cant tell it ever even had any and still looks almost new.

Even if u put it back to stock you'll be lucky to get 10k for a flood damaged car even if it says that in a really small spot on the title.

Re: The Holy Grail.. 30K and climbing!!
I think this ad is a scam to get money. The info they didn't even put where the car was bought. He deleted that section, where the ebay ad had full details to where it was bought. Plus the car is US model, so unless he imported to Canada selling in Ottawa, he also didn't mention that in the ad also.

There's also a black 2001 ITR bidding for 19k as of right now with 4 days left, it has 60k miles and looks REALLY minty. I guess the market is going to flip just like the e30 m3 market did, one day they were only 12k and the next they were going for a MINIMUM of 25k. If you have a chance to snag a ITR for below 15k, I would highly do it because in a couple years the prices will be well above 20k.

Re: The Holy Grail.. 30K and climbing!!
At this point who knows what the real deal is on this situation. I'm going to wait for these cars to start consistently selling for $20k and up before I get excited. There are also soooo many itr listed with salvage titles for whatever reason that may be so those who have LOW mileage itr or ctr with clear titles I'd wait it out and see if this inflation is going to happen.

Yes for super low mileage itr that are stock with clear titles which is veeeerrry rare. Most cars have 60k and up and so many have salvage titles.

Re: The Holy Grail.. 30K and climbing!!
Lightly modded will still grant that much money in 5-6 years, people will eventually just want one, regardless of mods though I agree the stock ones will still go for more. I've seen e30 m3's with 110k miles sell for 25k all day, because people just want one, regardless of miles.
