Default Help with starting my car

Here's the situation.

lately when I turn the key, the car usually has a 5-10 second pause before the the starter kicks in and starts the motor.

It is completely temperature dependent.

Today is was kinda cold, and the car will not start now. The code reads #8, which is TDC sensor, which doesn't seem like it would have anything to do with the starter not engaging.

Does anyone think it could just be the starter? starter solenoid?

any help would be apprieciated

Check distributor, cap, rotor, ignitor (icm), and coil.

I had this problem constantly when turboed...distributor always wore out quickly...cap and rotor that is...using MSD setup.

Now Ultra MDI 9680 no problem at all...not using cap and rotors but direct ignition system.

The TDC/CKP/CKF sensor is in the distributor.

The car didn't pass Smog a few weeks ago and I replaced the: cap, rotor, coil, plugs, wires. It was doing this back then, but these didn't help/change the problem.

woops, test the ignition switch, this happend to my old DA9. Run a wire directly from the start to positive terminal, if that works good every time, then your ignition switch is bad, instead of fixing it i just made a pushbutton start setup
