Help with oil problem Please Help!!!!
Ok so i recently bought a hatch with a b18c motor, i am thinking the dipstick is the wrong size, cuz i did an oil change 2 days ago, put in 4 quarts of oil, drove it about 1000 miles pretty much non stop, got back home checked the oil after the car sat over night and the oil is not registering on the dipstick, no signs of oil leak, I then used the dipstick from my SOHC d16 coupe, which is much larger then the one in the hatch, and it registers oil about 3" off the bottom of the dipstick, which hits the bottom of the oil pan before it goes in all the way.
so my question is, could it be possible to have the wrong dipstick and if so, will the dipstick off of a b16 work? and no auto stores here can get the b18's dipstick.
thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

did you not check the oil level after you finished the oil change?! did you drive your car hard for that time? possible your motor burns alot of oil, they tend to do that. haha. i dont know much about the sizing of the dipsticks, i could go measure mine later if problem hasnt been solved yet.

from what i have been reading online, half say they r the same size other half says they r not. and i tried the dipstick from a SOHC and it is about 3 inches longer then the current dipstick and it registers oil right where the one from the b18 ends. so that is about 3 inches in the bottom of the pan.

I am not sure what you are measuring, but one should measure from the tip of the stick where you will find oil, all the way to the stopper that keeps the dip stick from traveling further in.
My stopper is green and has a ribbed profile to it to plug the hole once inserted.
Tip to Edge on Stopper = 10 -15/16"
I could have said 11" but it clearly was 1 line under.
And this is clearly on a 2000 ITR w USDM B18C5 motor.
Hope this helps. Good luck, and keep oil in the motor!
