HELP!! IAT sensor...does this one look bad? pics inside..
My car throws CEL 10 (IAT sensor). So I figure I should check to see if the sensor is bad before I assume its my wireing job. The end of the sensor looks like it has been either melted, or blown out..? I'm not sure what to make of it, and I have no real comparison. If anybody can tell me if this sensor looks good or bad, please reply ASAP!!
PICS:
Any help is greatly appreciated...

I agree...
Also, is the IAT a model specific sensor...as in...can I buy one for, lets say a Civic Si, just because the Acura dealership around here charges way too much...or should I only get the IAT sensor for a '00 ITR?

I would assume that it is interchangeable. It takes a temperature reading, and the temperatures that it should read should be relatively even.
Tell you what.
I am going to go and do some majic on Majestic honda and Carland acura and get the REAL HONDA part numbers for you. Please dont ask me how I do it, because I will not tell anyone and ruin it for myself

The part number at Acura is 37880-PE2-013
BUT the SI's sensor is located on the intake arm. Which means it is probably the same as the CX, DX which doesn't screw in.
Basically, you got no choice but to get it from acura.

Re: HELP!! IAT sensor...does this one look bad? pics inside.. (92TypeR)
you had too much power to the sensor. Sensor voltage is only 4.5 volts, and having 12 volts to the IAT will melt the end of the sensor.
Fix your wiring
