The header looks nice in the pictures, and the price is affordable. I wonder how it performs, anyone ever hear of this replica?

If its the same design as the OEM JDM 4-1 then how bad can it perform?, But as to the build quality... I bet $1.00 Honda's part would last longer.

Build quality is more than just durability. I wonder how well the flanges are deburred and if there are other flow restrictions due to construction.

You raise a very good point, but the OEM JDM ITR 4-1 isn't known for its excellent finish quality either. The internal flange welds aren't ideal, and the collector also has room for improvement. Overall, the DC Sports JDM 4-1 is a better choice in this respect, but it's a bit more expensive than this replica.

Not to mention the OE JDM header rusts much more than the Ceramic and Polished DC replicas; and new at around $400 for the JDM Honda one; this header if comperable is quite a bargain by comparison.

I do not care for the welds on the black one ( or the fact its mild steel).. The mild steel one would not last for most of you up north..

I ordered one yesterday. For that price, I couldn't resist. I have to wait until end of Sept before I install it because I'm waiting for my T1R to come in and I've got a magnaflow cat waiting. I'll be sure to post pics and maybe I'll get a before and after dyno just for proof.

Oh yeah....i ordered the SS polished one NOT the black mild steel one.

looks a lot like the OEM welds laid down on the 98spec I had before....

Particularly the ones on the inside of the flange.... nothing a die grinder didn't clean up in like 45mins while spending 15mins lookin for the stupid bit!

The copy is so OEM ...right down to the header hanger bracket....

Is the collector double walled like OEM JDM or not?

How much for the SS one?

Unfortunately, you're right. I personally would have liked to have seen less attention paid towards constructing a "perfect" replica, and more towards building a high-performance piece. The welds could just have easily been placed on the outside of the flange, where they wouldn't have restricted flow.

And yes, the collector has the same double-walled design as the OEM piece. Again, probably not something I would have chosen to include, but there have been arguments that it has somewhat of an "anti-reversion" effect (though this could also have been achieved by other means that wouldn't have reduced the overall diameter of the collector).

Incidentally, does anyone else find it interesting that a company took the time to construct such an accurate replica of this piece? I don't mean this in a negative way, I'm just wondering why they didn't opt to "copy" a different, better-performing design, since the cost of manufacturing it would have been just as great. Perhaps they've obtained some surplus Honda components somehow?

I suppose a decent analogy would be a company producing aftermarket camshafts. In my mind it would make more sense to copy something like a Toda Spec B, rather than an OEM GS-R.

I totally agree with you on this.... Imagine if they put that effort on a Toda header replica or something.

With such high demand for "JDM" is so high right now, that's why i believe they choose this route.

All I have to say is for the price, I would definitly buy it. If i had the extra cash I would love to build a honda with mainly all replica/knockoff parts and see how it would hold up.

The welds look okay.

I'm wondering if the flat black is high temp paint or a coating. I would assume a paint since a true coating costs about $100 or so.
