forgot washer on oil drain plug?
so finally get some free time to do my 6K mile oil change.. this time the filter came with a new washer for drain plug.. i always buy filters at honda and sometimes it doesnt come with it.. anyhow i take off the one that was there.. looked fine to me.. put a new one.. then i think when i removed the oilfilter i unbolted the drain plug again to get all of the engine oil out.. and washer ened in the bucket with old engine oil.. i found this out once everything was done.. i torqued the drain bolt according to specs. I can just wait and put a new one at 9K miles right? its not like it will fly off or all oil will leak out? let me know..

Old adage goes... better safe than sorry.
I mean unless you used $5 per gallon oil, you'll feel better doing it again. Or, if you insist, just watch for any leaking oils everytime you park your car. (washer is a crushing type which serves a purpose...)

damn that sucks!!!!...
i dont want to waist more money.. should i just unbolt the drain bolt really quick slap on the washer and put it back on? then pour that oil back into the motor?
or since the filter is brand new.. drain all of it.. put new oil back in.. (which means go spend another 25-30 bucks) opinions?

Just do it really fast.. take bolt out, plug hole with finger, put washer on, put bolt back in. You should only lose a couple ounces of oil at most.

If its not leaking I would wait until the next oil change. I don't have a washer on the mustang. Never have.

Use a catch pan and catch the oil, pour it back in if it bothers you. $20 of oil is worth the piece of mind (if you are using synth, $5 if not). As stated above, if you do it quick, you won't lose much oil anyway. Yes, better safe than sorry...

sorry... it's not really funny, but you'll love more than a few ounce by "doing it quick"... it's called law of physics. Just take your time and get it done right... you'll sleep better at night.
