Exhaust is a Mugen Twinloop, stock B pipe, Mugen 4 - 2 - 1 header

Ok long story short my gf encouraged me to drive into a few steep driveways and the b pipe hit the ground. The B pipe and the exhaust are both fine, just a few scratches.

But a few days later one hanger came lose and the exhaust was hanging on for dear life by one hanger. I put it back on and a few days later it fell off both hangers again completely nicely scraping down the turn on my driveway.

The grommet remained attached to the car in all instances.

I put it back on again properly this time with both metal hangers going in the 2 bottom hole of each rubber grommet.

Once again it came loose, so this time I put the exhaust back on the rubber grommets but put the hangers in the middle hole of the rubber instead of the lower hole. I did this for both grommets so that one is wedged on the exhaust so it basically cant come off now unless you force it.

My question is will these rubber gromets stand up to the heat ?

And can someone post up some pics of how there exhaust is hanging, i dont think type of exhaust matters in this case ?

Any tips suggestions please.

I had the exact same problem with my Fujitsubo and it was driving me nuts. I even tried new OE rubber bushings thinking that may be the problem, but no luck.

Go to Autozone and get some rubber hosing that will barely slip over the end of the hanger and some small hose clamps (the type you screw closed). Push the metal hanger on your exhaust as far through the rubber grommet as possible and then slide the rubber hose over the end. While really pulling, get the clamp on the hose and tighten it down. You end up with a bit of hose and a clamp between the rubber grommet and the tip of your exhaust hanger.

This solution has worked and after 4 track days hasn't come off...

sweet, i was thinking of doing something like that, its been pissing me off majorly.

And I have been driving the car very slowly around corners ever since this started happening, i mean just the image of a $1200 exhaust scraping the ground sends tears to my eyes.

Damn gf has cost me paint scratches on the front lip, and scractches on my b pipe and exhaust tip.

Oh wells shes worth it

its been so long since i had this problem i cant remember if my testpipe was a little to long or short. anyways...it pulled or pushed it self out of the hangars whenever the motor torqed..

i had the testpipe shortened or lengthnd and problem stopped..

i would look at the hangars and see if they arent sitting properly.

You can get the metal zips but I think I would try flux's fix first. I hope that girl of your is "really" worth it

I would recommend using aftermarket exhaust hangers.

On the USDM ITR, I have the OEM exhaust hangers holding up the Amuse exhaust. If one is to grab the tailpipe, one is able to move the exhaust left and right.

On the JDM ITR, I have "Juran" exhaust hangers holding up the Amuse exhaust. If one is to grab the tailpipe, one is not able to move the exhaust a measurable amount.

Of course, installing the exhaust with these aftermarket hangers takes considerably more force. But it's worth it as the exhaust is held in place 10x as well as with the OEM hangers.

check your motor mounts...

I've got $5 they look like swiss cheese. Go get some polyurethane busings & replace those. The exhaust issue is a symptom, not the actual problem (motor moves so much, it's working the exhaust out of the hangers).

hmm, im having this problem too with 1 hanger, but of late its stopped. i sprayed the rubber hangers with silicone spray and it seems to have stopped the situation

2nd to my first solution is to spot weld a washer on the end of the hanger. You can then pull the washer off at the track if you needed to for some reason, but the rubber can't slip over a washer

Ok done, added some rubber gaskets with metal zip ties.

I had a look at the engine mounts, they dont look worn at all really. The car has about 30,000 miles on her so not expecting them to be work just yet

Weather and harsh driving can make mounts turn to **** real quick.
