Click the link in RTW DC2's post and check what fault code you are getting, there could be several reasons for the check engine light to light up.

i pulled a code 67

Catalyst system Efficiency Below Threshold malfunctioning or defective catalyst system

what exactly does that mean? I'm using a 2.5 jdm cat convertor...

It means that the cat that you're using doesn't work as well as the ECU would like...same code comes up when you're using a test pipe....although it didn't come on for me when I drove for a couple of days on the stock ecu and test pipe....

not sure but it doesnt sound like anything is wrong with your car. the 2.5' cat is probally messin up the sensor.

will the CEL 67 put the ECU into a "safe mode" or is this an error that can be ignored? I know some codes put the ECU into a safe mode, others are just for alerting there is a potential problem. obviously if its putting the ECU in safe mode it would need to be corrected for the car to run right. how can something like this be corrected?

Not all cel's put the car in limp mode. I think that happens with detonation and some other major malfunctions. This cel definitely won't put you in limp mode. I don't know if the high speed turn had anything to do with the CEL coming on, but the larger cat might be messing with the sensor.

You would know if you were in "Safe Mode" red line is ~5000rpm if I remember correctly, and the ECU runs horribly rich.

Remove the 7.5 radio/backup fuse in the under hood fuse box or disconnect the negative pole of the battery for a few seconds. Then reconnect, start the car, and let idle for about 10 minutes without any electrical accessories turned on.

JPP: Hard cornering COULD cause a bit of oil pressure loss/starvation no? Which, with low enough pressure to begin with could trip the VTEC oil pressure switch and through a code 22 no?

But since it's a code 67, just remove the damned CEL bulb imo

Doesn't that just reset the 'maintenance' light on the dash?

Disconnect the battery and then start up the kaa for 10 like it says above.

Everything is possible I am not really sure which of the two lights "check engine" or "low oil level" would light up first during a hard cornering causing oil starvation in the engine...Also wouldn't he had to be in VTEC mode during the turn for the VTEC oil presuure switch to trip (was he or wasn't he in VTEC that is the question).
