I've been to many forums already and have gotten no good help on this. (this is on a 2001 ITR )

Car seems to be running fine except for the fact that whenever i rev the engine to about 2500RPM's The electricity starts going crazy fluctuating and diming and brightening my headlights and my cluster lights.

This happened after I put on a new set of JDM DC headers and a Test Pipe. I think this happened because of my O2 sensor was rewired and might have wired the two heater wires in wrong. I've changed out my Test pipe and installed it with a brand new High Flow cat now and a new O2 sensor. This didn't seem to help but. I don't know if the Electric Load Detector Has been fried or the ECU has... I was wondering if anyone has had this happened to them and if they did, what did you change out cause this is a big problem for me right now since I live in Alaska and there is no sunlight out in the winters.

Symptoms:
-CEL code P1297 and P141
-Lights DIM and Bright
-Alternator not getting right Voltage.

I'm pretty sure its either the Electric Load Detector or the ECU but i don't want to have to replace both if i don't have too.... PLEAS I NEED SOME HELP

Reversing the heater wires could have caused the voltage regulator on the alternator to break.

I would check the voltage regulator first.

How do you test the ELD because i contacted Acura Dealer and they said there is no way to test it except for replace it..... I already had the Alternator replaced its still not putting out the right amount of voltage though... I think thats due to the fact that the ELD might be Malfunctioning.

When the alternator was replaced, did they reuse the old voltage regulator?

Aren't the Voltage regulators internal? anyway they've replaced it 3 times now. LOL these mechanics are retarded man... I can't even imagine how they got ASE certified. I've brought it in and given them every little symptom there is and they say that my car is too modified that they won't touch it. How hard is it to warranty a Fuse box and ECU??!!! And When I call them up to ask on the status, they give me the same info that i gave them.... no other info.... They pissin me off!!!!! So i'm guessing its gonna have to come out of my pocket now and my time to put this stuff in... This is why i really need to know if someone really knows the Defect here cause ECU and Fuse box isn't cheap......

Sorry, you're right. The voltage regulator is in the alternators on Hondas. I was thinking of BMW's for some reason.

Having you tried pulling the code with the service connector? I'm not familiar with the CEL codes that you posted above.

As an electrician, I can only recommend that it is imperative that you fix this erradic electrical issue.

I don't see this as being an issue with the fuse box (unless you fried something) or the ECU (unless you fried something)

If your unfamiliar with electrical systems, it would be best if you took it to a reputable shop (not the steelership) that does Honda/Acura products as a bulk of its work.

Thats what i think it is.... i might have fried a circuit so thats why its not reading the correct currents so its causing the voltage to jump a lot which makes it fluctuate. So I'm guessing its pretty much a new ECU and FUSE BoX for me... I know of a person that has had this happened to them too but i can't get a hold of him on this site....... I HOPE SOMEONE OUT THERE CAN CONTACT HIM for me PLEASE USER KDoGx504.... if anyone knows him please have him email me or post to this msg.....
