Default Backwards wheel bearing = th3 bad ?

I had my friend press in my new bearings (swapped from 96 spec to USDM 5 lug) and I think he pressed them in backwards. Does anyone have a picture of both sides of the ITR bearing that can post a pic or link to them? Also, from what I've been told, the only negative effect of this is shorter bearing life. Can anyone confirm this or add to my reasons to make sure this gets redone correctly. Wheel bearings = suck (since you can't reuse them).

you can press them in backwards? I would make it right...pretty important part of the chassis, wouldn't you think?

Yes. One side is metal (pack seal) and the other is rubber (dust seal). The pack seal goes towards the inside. Any pics would still be great. I have spoke to several acura and honda mechanics and they said they would at least try them to see if they make any noise. Other than that, all I should expect is shorter life.

And I'm 90% sure, once pressed, you can't get them back out with out destroying them.

I had this problem a few months ago. I had to go out and buy 2 new bearings and a press to make sure it was done right this time.

you'll be fine... or at least i THINK so.
there was a tech at my shop about a year ago who installed some front whel bearings on a 98 accord v6 backwards. i told him about it since i noticed it right before he was about to throw the knuckles back on the car.. he said "whatever", and let the car roll. i thought it would be back, but so far it hasn't. time will tell.

in all honesty, i think you'll be okay. but there's that *slight* chance that things could go wrong. even so, it's only 2 hrs of labor for both wheel bearings. no biggie.
