I just picked up the parts that I left with Seattle Powdercoat. They look awesome! I chose a 60% semi gloss black finish and everything looks brand new. Almost an exact match to the factory finish. It was like Christmas over here while I was opening 20+ parts individually wrapped and taped.

The staff at Seattle Powdercoat were very helpful and even beat their estimated turnaround. I couldn't be happier. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

Everything that is not pictured above will be new parts. Buying the rest of those is going to be my next move. I'm hoping to get the R off of these jack stands soon.

Nice work on the suspension components. They look brand new. I'm debating on painting or powder coating mine, only things is the downtime. Maybe I'll pull the suspension in the winter and get them all done.

I had the same debate. Couldn't be happier with my decision. If you go the powdercoat route try your luck at a commercial facility versus a shop that specializes in automotive. Seattle Powdercoat does a lot of bike frames, handrails, light fixture parts, and other large scale projects. They did excellent work even though my order wasn't their typical job, and the cost was about $17 per part versus $25-45 per part at the custom auto shops I received quotes from. I dropped the parts off on a Friday and picked them up 6 business days later.

LMFAO!! Mine would be more like "Hey *******! Get your car crap off the table before I throw it away!!" I left them there when I headed to work. I should probably head home to move them before I have to buy ALL new parts. Ha!

Powder coat looks good. May have to look into those guys. Out of curiosity which other places did you receive quotes from? I have only used to powder coat shops with good luck. Others seem to be priced way to high.

I received quotes from Meisterwerks, RMC Powder Coating, Seattle Powdercoat, and from a "friend" of a friend (not sure if he has a business license or not.) I also touched base with a guy that had an ad up on Craigslist, but he wasn't set up to do my longer parts. With the exception of RMC and Seattle Powdercoat, pricing was by the part starting at $25-45 and going up depending on size. Media blasting was also an additional charge. RMC and Seattle Powdercoat had similar pricing, but I went with Seattle because it is close to where I moor my boat. I paid an average of $17 per part INCLUDING media blasting.

That's a really fair price considering the time taken to mask off the parts that needed to be left bare, and media blasting and of course powder coating, you must be so happy I'd be stoked if my suspension was fresh like that again!

It's really a shame it has to go back on the car lol, I wouldn't want it to get dirty etc.

Great job man. I started out 5 years ago in the exact same position. Looking for an all original GSR. Took me 6 months to find it and 6 hours to go and get it. After 4 months of bringing it to life it too was stolen and recovered a grade above yours.

I have recently started putting everything back together from a donor car. Blasted, cleaned and painted all the parts at our facility in flat black and are literally building it back on bolt at a time. With some changes and additions of course... A GPS tracking system being one of them.

Keep up the great work. Looking forward to seeing you get back in your car.

Wow, what a journey. Happy to see the progress! Have you been able to get any more parts back? Did the cops jail anyone? So stupid to ruin the rest of their lives stealing a few thousand dollars worth of parts... Seriously dumb .
As others have said, thanks again for spending the time to share what has happened, I'm sure you have inspired others. Just curious, how much has it cost time and money wise since you got it back? You don't have to share costs but it helps to be reminded of all the time and effort put into projects like this!

Man you were lucky to get that motor back! That really was a break and I've truly enjoyed reading your thread and am very happy for you! I had my beloved 94' GSR stolen and stripped too but ended up with a nicer replace ment in the end. Fantastic little cars and engines!

Man. What a story!... I feel your pain being a gsr owner. Obviously not to the extreme that a type r owner does, but i know exactly how crazy I'd be as an owner.. Much respect to you and I look forward to seeing this all turn out for the best!

Seriously, well done. This is inspirational. Damn those thieving mongrels; there is an unfortunate pit in hell awaiting them.

This thread is an emotional rollercoaster. I love it! I can relate to the feeling of complete and utter sadness from losing a cherished vehicle. As a result, I quickly learned the lesson with my next vehicle and am proud to say that I am still the original owner of a 2000 DC2 with 75K. Best wishes on your rebuild back to glory!

Damn, that first post was so incredibly hard to read but I'm glad it's coming back together again and it's going to be better than ever. Good luck! Can't wait to see the final product.
