Default why is my car thumping?

well, i was driving today, and noticed a light thumping noise coming from the passenger side of my car. i had to travel a decent distance today dmv, dealers board, ect (just got my sales liscense!) anyways, throughout the day, i notice it getting louder and louder while braking...sometimes making the car dive to the left under medium to hard braking while on the interstate. on my way back home, it started a loud thumping even while coasting...it kinda sounded like a flat tire. got home and checked, no flat, and the brakes visually appeared to be fine. also, the p-side axle was replaced about 4k ago, so i doubt it is that.

has anyone ever experienced this...any ideas? thanks guys

a thump like somethings hitting the bottom of your car? this is a wierd problem. is it fast enough to be like a vibration or is it slow, just a thump thump thump? i'd say go ahead and check the ball joints for the boot being busted, or any grease leaking around them, then i'd check the bushings to see if they are dry rotted. maybe your lug nuts came untightend. the axle would only be the problem if it did so under acceleration either in a strait line or turning (depending inside or outside joint). usually wheel bearings make a whiring noise, like swush swush swush, and increases with road speed. i've heard of wheel bearings clunking, but i've never seen one get that bad in person. but this could be your situation.

try to describe the simptoms a little more and get real specific on when it happens, under what conditions, and describe the actual noise itself

i would also check the lug nuts.usually when you will notice the thumping problem decelerating.

i remember hitting a pot hole once. and my steering wheel started to shake real bad.

even going really slow, the steering wheel slowly bounches left and right.

i check my wheels and saw nothing and had no idea what was wrong.

i drove on the freeway and the steering wheel was shaking really bad.

all of a sudden i herd a loud popping explosion noise and then my right fender liner ripped out. while my car jerked to the right really bad.

i kept driving and exited the freeway, drove to a lot and saw the my right tire thread ripped out and wrapped around he axle and ripped the cv boot and all the grease splatterd all over.

the fenderliner was gone and my fender was bent out of shape. my right side skirt was chipped really bad and needed to be repainted.

this was the worse thing i had even been through since i was rear ended.

def try looking into your sway bar bushings..those mounts that hold the bushing in are rather weak.sometimes it comes out one side.
i had the same THUMP happening while slowing down, going over minor imperfections on the road, speed bumps.. i changed out alot of suspension components and it ended up being a a stupid D bracket.

my lil asian eyes cant see like the round eyes.
