LMAO! You'll pass as a Gross poluter. You just need to make it work like it was a USDM model.

by a new cat, get some hi end fule injector cleaner, make sure your car is nice and hot and give it try.. if the doesn't work you can un bolt your cat from your exuast and jus let it hang. the gases the escape don[t effect your emiisions and the ones that do make all the way through your exuast won't send you over the limit... give it a try! i did all i have said and it worked for me (in arizona with a b18a that didn't pass the first time)

LOL. Only problem with that is you'll fail the visual since your exhaust is not hooked up. Plus the sound level will be too obvious.

Most likely the reason for failing is wrwong timing and using the JDM ECU. Just get it tested and se the results first. Its kinda hard helping yo uif you are just wondering instead of gettingit tested with results.

Not sure how you could have passed smog legally w/a B20, since it's a light duty truck motor, and not supposed to be installed in a car, as there are no Honda cars in the US utilizing that motor. Maybe you got lucky, and they didn't know what they were looking at, but luck doesn't last forever. It will certainly pass by the numbers, but as far as getting a BAR sticker, not so sure that's possible.
As far as the JDM motors not passing, as was stated above, the motor needs to be equivalent to a US model (ie: JDM B16 = Vtec Del Sol), needs to be the same year as the car or newer, and must use all of the US smog equipment whether it's OBD I or II, the US ECU, harness, and injectors. This is referring to going legit, and having the motor smogged w/the California state referree, to get your BAR sticker.

The B20 is what is in the CRV so the US market did get that motor. I do have to agree that he may have been lucky to have got by with it. It was probably just a regular smog station where the techs didn't know what they were dealing with.
A refferee would definately be harder to do especially with a SUV motor in a compact car.

No problem, I did some research on swaps when I had mine certified through the ref.
