i dont understand why people do this. sure it may be eaiser to put it in (maybe) but then you run the risk of over/underfilling.

just follow the steps in the link provided above and you'll be golden

as long as you know how much fluid to put in why would you overfill??? and i think its easier than the other way

2.3 qts it the capacity. how many 2.3 qt oil containers have you seen? not to mention you are not gonna get it all out of the tranny when you do a simple drain and fill.

im not trying to argue with you, this is all IMO. i just prefer the fool proof way of doing it. using the fill hole

edit: oil capacity 2.3 us qt at oil change
2.4 us qt at overhaul

do a search... im pretty sure there are more people out there who can vouch for the VSS hole to fill tranny fluid.. I did it alot of diffrenet times.. with 2-3 quarts.. tranny is great still !

Agreed, VSS hole is much easier. VSS hole is a straight shot into the tranny. Tying to get a funnel to make a 90 deg bend into the fill plug when it's already stretched it is a pain, also slow to fill.

If you feel insecure about the level just remove the fill plug and when the fluid dribbles out you're full. After a few times you won't even bother opening the fill plug.

thats a good idea i never thought about that. i might just have to start using the vss hole

yeah, I fill mine through my VSS. My fill plug is on TIGHT!!! so I had to just pour in the full 3 quarts..I called Acura and that's what they told me to put in.

VSS???? sorry but dont much about tegra what does vss stand for and where is located is it just regular oil that you put in and how do you drain the old fluid from the tran

3 full qts thats alot, i would tri to get that fill plug out to level off the fluid to the correct level

I did it through the VSS but to make sure I didn't put too much fluid in I still unbolted the fill bolt to see when it drains out, but the point is that it's easier to pour in front the top than from the side.

Well i'm doing my first fluid change to a auto tranny and I have a question? Where do you refill the tranny thru? I know that I have to remove the pan to remove the old tranny fluid. but I just don't know how to refill it? I've reserched but I have not found a clear answer. thanx

Off topic but for an auto you fill through the dipstick hole. BTW... your auto probably doesn't have a pan... just a drain plug that accepts a 3/8 ratchet just like the manuals.

I fill from the VSS, but i pull the fill plug, that way I dont overfill.
