17 isn't that bad. do you have some ultra light 17s? combined weight with the tire you run is also more important that just wheel weight. for example, some 205 50 15s weigh more than the 205 40 16 for sure and also more than some 205 40 17s. it's easier to hit low weight goals with 15s but you can do it with 17s if you spend a lot. i have a set of rays 17s that only weigh 17lbs myself. they are also wrapped with BFG KD tires and grip pretty hard.

any extra weight on the wheels is going to affect performance, What you need to do is decide weather the wider/bigger tires give more benefits then negatives.
I run 17's with 22kg per rim, But they are nice and wide so its a fair comprise.

Re: weight and rims (parkerjamison)
why is everyone talking about 17" rims? he asked about 17POUND! rims compared to blades.
your answer is that the blades weight from 15-16 pounds. so your going to have an extra 6-8 pounds with the new rims. unless you are all into dragging or auto-x. it's not that bad of a gain in wieght.

The wheels I do wanna get are motegi hyperblack, I think that's the name I'll post a link when I get home. They are 17's and weigh 17 pounds. What do you think, good or no.

Re: weight and rims (parkerjamison)
sounds pretty good. the buddy clubs i have are 16" and are only 13 pounds. it all depends on what the rim is made for. but yeah 17 pound is good for a 17" rim. my prelude rims on my accord that are 15x6.5 are 22 pounds ha
