I had my interior out of the back of the car, including the carpet and noticed water pooling in the spare tire compartment. Seems like its either coming from the tail light or hatch lock areas. What is the culprit? Is this a normal occurance in dc's?

ohh yeah its a common prblem in a dc....lol...same thing happens to me when i wash my car

Yeah, its fairly common. On my car it turned out to be the tail light gaskets that were leaking.

I can't remember the name of it, the rubber piece around your hatch...

I had the same prob in my spare tire area, was the tailight gaskets...

i just fixed this problem in mine... theres a plastic tube that runs from your sunroof then down the insides of your qurter panels.they hook up to an elbow piece tha t drains the water out of the car..it could be discoonected maybe if your quarter panel was eevr hit??

I had that problem with my 95 2 door Teg, I replaced the taillight gaskets, problem solved.
