there are two vtec heads...p72 (GSR) and pr3 (ITR/b16/b17)...The b20 never came with a vtec head. Both the p72 and the pr3 are just fine...go with whichever you get cheaper, as there is no immediate advantage to one over the other..

b20 wouldnt make it a lsvtec, as its not a vtec head.

b16 or b18c5.. theyre more free flowing than a b18c1

I love when people bring this picture out to disprove the people who talk about what they have HEARD, and not what they know.

ah! the same old topic again.

They're both good. which ever one you get a deal on go for. The GSR will yeild a very slightly higher compression. The B16 wil barely barely barely flow better. Nothing major that you're gonna feel with your *** dyno.

I'm really sick of people saying that. It's pretty much proven that the GSR head flows better than the pr3 heads. You all just get that mixed up in your head because the OMGTYPE-R and B16 are made of the same casting.

THE GSR HEAD FLOWS THE BEST AND ALSO WILL GIVE YOU A BUMP IN COMPRESSION. PLEASE STOP SAYING OTHERWISE.

If you are taking cost into consideration, get a B16 head and slowly build the head.

If cost isn't of concerns, get a GS-R and do it right. (in my opinion, <3 GSR)

Also if cost isnt of concerns, and you aren't motor savvy, nor do you ever plan on being motor savvy, just buy a complete Type-R head.

EDIT: looks like someone got to the punch before me with the pic. Also, if the B16 head is soooooooo great, why didn't they use it on the GS-R? Hmm...

And to the guy who said that the b16 head is better for NA applications, why would a head with lower comp be better for NA? The GS-R head is also considered to be better for boosted setups because of the oil squirters I believe (could be wrong on this, someone smarter let me know if I am please).

EDITEDIT: And just again my opinion, the only reason most people prefer the B16 head is for their wannabe Type-R look. They go and buy the red valve cover so they can madkewl y0 and be like "yo check out my red valve cover, Chyeah its Type-R, look at the stamp!" That's just my take though.

Sorry this really peeves me. :x

The pic shows that the head flow differences are minimal...not that one is better than the other...All heads have oil squirters...they sit in the cam plates and cam caps (next time you change a set of cams look at the plates)...

Alot of what you're saying sounds pretty confused..

i apologize for giving the wrong information.

I joined this forum to learn. I have never read that the b18c1 head flows better than a b16, ive always heard that the b16 flows better than a b18c1, so I apologize for that.
Go look in pretty much any lsvtec build questions thread, and someone will say that the b16 flows better.

So, with that said, just get any vtec head you can find. the differences are extremely minimal, and i'm sure they wouldnt make that big of a difference.

I apologize as well. It's a minimal difference but I'll take the 0.2 boost in compression
