Vibration when car is at complete stop
Here's the problem... when the car is braked at a complete stop in Drive or Reverse, the steering wheel vibrates/shakes a lot. For example, if I'm stopped and waiting at a red light while in Drive, the steering wheel would start vibrating. When I shift to Neutral, the vibration goes away. The vibration only occurs when I'm stopped while in D or R... Doesn't happen in N. But when the car is in motion, there's no vibration. This is for a 92 Integra GS.. auto. So what might be the problem?

Re: Vibration when car is at complete stop (IntEGNYC)
The RPM needle idles well above 1000rpm during warm-up.. At the right operating temperature, the needle drops to around 800-900 rpm and it idles there. I haven't noticed the needle jumping up and down much.. looks pretty stable.

motor mounts arent a expensive job, well i mean they kidna are, but not that bad. probably not your plugs. you wold notice a lag the whole wya through the rpm range. soo. check your mounts.

You're probably right it's not the spark plugs.. there's no lag. The car starts up pretty quickly too.
Yup it's auto.
The battery was replaced a few weeks ago... when you step on the brake pedal, the lights on the dash go dim for a second or two.. and this is a new battery. I don't think that has anything to do with the vibrating tho.
It's actually my bro's car.. he hasn't driven it long. I'm not too familiar with what's under his hood... But I'll go with the motor mounts. Is there anything specific with the motor mounts that should be looked at?.. like how can you tell what's wrong with the mounts if it's not obvious? newgsrdriver mentioned torque mounts.. where's that located?
So if he took the car to a shop to get the motor mounts replaced, approximately what's the price range to do the job?

Re: (s13_drifter)
same symptons as you in my old accord auto. Replaced the motor mounts and the car was new again.
Only when the car was engaged in a gear would the steering wheel vibrate, never in N.

tighten your motor mounts..sometimes they need to be replaced...common problem with hondas. my 91 civic ex did that....if you take it to a dealer it might cost 300 bucks to tighten it all or replace them. but at the end it drives like a baby's ***: smooth

Ok that makes sense.
I looked under the hood while somebody was in the car shifting from P to R to N to D.. etc... The engine doesn't seem to shake too much in any gear. If there was a problem with the mounts, is the engine supposed to vibrate or move around a lot? Also, I noticed the engine moving toward the firewall and away from the firewall depending on if you're shifting to R or D.. the movement isn't that big, but still noticeable... Not sure if it's supposed to do that.

the 90-93 tegs with an auto do vibrate a little bit when stopped in gear. but, it shouldn't be too much. you should have your idle set to 750 rpm. it is most likely your motor mounts though. and yes that is the engine torqueing...the movement.
