Very Loud Screeching
first off i had my local acura dealer do a brake inspection about one month ago and they said everything is fine and nothing needs to be done because i have plenty of pad left...
but now to the problem...
i was backing out of my drive way today and as soon as i put it in first.. i hear a very nasty screeching noise.. it does not only happen when im in gear or braking.. but whenever the car is moving period.. it was coming from the right side of my car... i could not really tell if it was my brake pads.. wheels or anything..
if i could describe the noise.. sounded like something metal rubbing into something.
now to the weird part..
after driving to the acura dealer, the noise just stopped as in vanishes..
what could have been the problem? i didint see anything hanging or touching the street...
any ideas?

more than likely it is your wear indicator on your pads. My moms TSX was doing that for a couple weeks every time it hit a bump on the freeway it was a super loud screeching noise. Didn't think it was the brake but put new pads on and voila, problem solved
good luck

Re: Very Loud Screeching (WhoDoYouThink)
there are shims on the pads, one could have slid out of position and up against a rotor, you can wear out pads in a month too BTW, maybe your parkin brake cable was frozen (dont know where you are but that is a stretch in california), could be a rock, look at the rotors and see if it was a rock by seeing if the rotor has an unnatural grove in it, just check them all, make sure they all spin with the hub too incase you ground a hub loose from the rotor

that is exactly what it is! I couldnt think of the name but it was the shims on the TSX that was making that horrible sound whenever it hit bumps ect.

there was a guy on here about a month ago who had a shim come loose and it severd the rotor from the hub part of the rotor meaning that the rotor and the wheel hub would spin independently... problems for that guy
