Valves Bent??? How do I know?
Got a ITR head and all looks good, until I got the pistons from the same block and noticed there are slight impressions of the exhaust valves in the tops of the pistons. How do I check to see if the valves are okay??

Head's off the block? Then poor water into your ports and see if it leaks out the valve. Head on the block? Leak down tester, or take the head off the block and see above.
Good luck.
Good luck.

if its on the block then leakdown test it, if its off then pour the water in the ports or if the valves are out put them in a drill and watch the valve as it rotates for an out of round type motion.

The head is off and I poured gasoline cause I figured it was thinner, no leaks... Just can't see how the indentations couldn't of screwed the valves up... I mean are p73 pistons that soft?

that is true. and the only true way of telling if the valves are bent are to take them out of the head.

Thank you sir!!! I have been waiting to see if someone said this, because if not, I was going to.

sorry to be off topic, but how much does a leakdown test/compression test cost?
i dont have the tools, for that, and where would i take it? there arent any real engine/machine shops around here so are there any chains that would do it?
thanks!

No. They are there so you dont have piston to valve contact. Yes. Our motors are that close.

Re: Valves Bent??? How do I know? (Smeeg Heed)
I know the pistons are suppose to have those slits for the valves... but I actually had half moon dents from the exhaust valves. Seems like the timing may had been off or maybe even adjustable cam gears... I took the head in today to get vacum tested so I'll know tomorrow what the verdict is gonna be...
