Default Vacuum hoses....

Just went to get my car smogged today and the tech tells me that my aftermarket vacuum hoses are now considered illegal. He tells me that he can either fail me, or I would have to go and get some new "factory" hoses in order to pass smog. Now, this is just for visual as I had passed smog two years ago with the same setup, nothing new added. Have any of you guys been getting this this year, or is this guy just bullshitting me. Of course, this is in the wonderful car loving state of California... Thanks for any input.

Are you serious? what in the world do you mean aftermarket vacuum hoses? do you mean those silicone colored hoses? and they would not effect emissions or have anything to do with a visual as long as there in the right places, that guy is bull shitin you id go somewhere else and not say anything about the hoses i mean there just vac. hoses!, unless you mean those little mini air filters people put on the fitting that comes off the valve cover and intake, then those are illegal for sure iv had problems with both smog and cops.

definately agree with you. so how hard is it for him to just use standard vac hose for the test day? he shouldnt have to but cali smog guys suck and act like theyre CARB employees sometimes. he should go somewhere else like you said

From this tech, (test only center) he deemed illegal was the replacing the two largest hoses above the steering column, the hose which connected the my AEM cold air intake to the valve cover, and a couple of hoses which extended from my intake manifold to this contraption which sits beside my battery (dunno what it's called?). ****ed up, I've been passing smog for the last ten years, then they pull this ****... Bunch of bullshit!!!!!
