Like the title says, I bought a usdm itr gauge cluster and swapped into my 99 gsr. I started driving and noticed the temperature gauge wasn't working. I cleaned the copper strips on the back of the gauge. I plugged my gsr cluster back up and it worked so i know its not a temp sensor. Could it be a bad gauge? If so how do I go about replacing it? And I did search and found absolutely nothing. Any help is always appriciated. Thanks.

Not exactly sure if there is a difference, but is the temp sender compatible with that cluster. Also pull the sender wire and directly ground it. If the gauge doesn't start to move. Pretty much confirms bad gauge.

There was an issue with some of the pins not matching gauge clusters between years. The fix was to change out the circuit backing to the one that matches the car but I don't think that's your problem. If the circuit backing on the ITR matches yours, here's the info for a new gauge. They're the same for all US clusters.

You want #10. Just disassemble and reassemble. Pretty straight forward.

OK I grounded the temp sensor and the fans kicked on after a few seconds but the gauge didn't budge. A buddy said he thought there might be 2 temp sensors? But I only found one. But it seems like the gauge is bad.

Wouldn't it br number 12 I need? Since it is the temp gauge that's bad.

Yes of course. Sorry, type-o.

And there is a temp sending unit for the gauge and a fan switch for the fans. I believe there is a second fan switch as well, to run the fans if the temp is still high and the engine is off. Different circuits.

what year is the itr cluster? gas and temp are off if you switch up certain years. i want to say it's 94-97 and 98+ unsure if there is a 3rd in there as well

Not sure what year it came out of.

OK well ill have to check it out tomorrow when I have light. Where is the sending unit for the gauge located? The one I tried was under the intake manifold I believe.

I'm pretty sure it's #11. Should be single wire on the (passenger) side of the head. Double checked this time, no type-o.

ok i tested the right sensor this time and on my gsr cluster it spiked all the way to hot and on the itr cluster it didnt budge. should i try swapping the green films over and see if that works? or should the gauge have spiked if it was good?

ok so i got impatient so i swapped the green film around and everything works now. It was pretty simple so if anyone needs any help just pm and ill help the best i can. Thanks again!
