Type R steering wheel
I have been wondering for a while if it is possible to get a Type R steering wheel on my 1995 LS? Also does anyone know if the diameter is smaller or larger and if its perfectly round or a little ovaled like my LS wheel? Thanks

Re: Type R steering wheel (WiLLMaTiX)
i beileve all oem integra steering wheels are exactly the same (in diamter). The only ones that are smaller in diamter are both the jdm itr wheels (srs and non srs)

Sounds like the JDM ITR steering wheel is what you're looking for. It will mount right up on to the rack. Although you might have slight issues hooking up the airbag...there's a difference in plugs.

I am 99.8% sure that the JDM ITR wheel is smaller in diameter.

what for? the steering rack is underneath the car. It does not connect to the steering wheel.

Once again, it does NOT connect to the rack.
As for airbags, I can't say for certain that there are differences in any of the plugs, but I've seen MANY pople use ITR steering wheels.

I don't think the usdm ITR steering wheel has red stiching, and there was a thread on here some time back regarding converting your 94-95 teg steering wheel and srs to a 97-01 USDM/JDM steering wheel/srs. I'm going to try to find it since I need the info myself as well.........if I find it, I'll post a link here.

And what is the steering ratio of the Japanese Type R then?
All of the USDM steering racks have a turning radius of either 34.8 or 35.4 feet. So, unless the JDM steering racks are severely tighter, it's not going to be worth the hassle to change it.
Just because it's JdM y0! doesn't mean it's practical and what's best for all situations.

Re: Type R steering wheel (ScreaminTeg)
I have the JDM "non-SRS" DC2 steering wheel and it hooked up fine, although I don't have a horn and my turn signal "Returners" are a bit off, I like it because
A: its smaller
B: it has little fat palm gripper cushions
C: its JdM Y0!

Re: Type R steering wheel (B20 Twin Cam DC2)
That is the exact wheel I am looking for! I saw one kid selling one for 200 bucks and Im not about to blow that much on a wheel, I could get 100 different things more worth my money and time. Any clue who would sell one for 50-80 bucks?

50-80 bucks is way to cheap for that wheel, but if you are going with a non-srs steering wheel, then I would recommend a nice alcantra back sparco one. Alcantra is like suede, feels great on the hands

Re: Type R steering wheel (WiLLMaTiX)
I had a sparco flash 5 steering wheel, but sold it. I know if you search the classifieds (use the search button and put sparco wheel into the search parameters) then you'll find some sparco steering wheeels with pics. I've seen some go for really cheap, but they've been beat up. I myself picked up an usdm ITR steering wheel for $65 form another HT member in excellent condition, but I got lucky I guess cause I've seen HT members asking as much as $150 to $250 for that wheel. Good luck, and hope the info in the above links help

It depends, I wanted a better feel and grip to my steering wheel, (I have a plastic wheel on my 94 RS), like that which you would get with leather, but I didn't want to wrap my steering wheel cause then it would feel to bulky. I also didn't want to install my sparco wheel cause I wanted to retain the srs airbag system for now. There was a guy selling a leather wrapped gsr wheel from queens here on HT for the longest, but it was from a 98, and didn't include the airbag, and he was asking $100 plus it had the cruise control buttons which I have no use for (my RS doesn't have cruise control). The JDM srs steering wheel runs around $400 to $600, and the non-srs, I didn't want cause if I was going to lose srs then I would've remained with my sparco wheel.
So the best choice came down to getting my hands on a usdm itr wheel complete with airbag, since it doesn't have the cruise control, and it has nice leather wrapping. I would just have to learn how to do the conversion to have it work properly which is when I was directed to the article I linked above. So I was about to buy one off a HT member for $200, but then I found another HT member who sold me his for $65............I lucked out. I can put up pics tomorrow.
To answer the install question, I can't yet, I'm going to install mine next week, following the directions int eh link above and using the helms manula I just got, (I was waiting on the helms to back me up). I'll have some pics of the wheel later

here are pics of a USDM ITR steering wheel I picked up and want to install in my 94 RS, I like that it doesn't have the cruise control option just like my RS. But other than that I don't think there is any other difference between the usdm itr steering wheel and the usdm gsr steering wheels of the same years. They both seem to have the same all black leather/stiching around the steering wheel.
