hey ive already searched for this and i cant seem to find wat im looking for. i also posted in cosmetics but didnt really get the response that i wanted.. so hears my question, i have a 97 gsr that i want to do a jdm front end conversion on. so ive been looking around and i was just wondering where would be the best place to purchase? i went to http://www.passwordjdm.com and that was a little too much. has any one else had any experience with purchasing this front end conversion. any info would be great

it is going to be expensive any way you slice it. don't forget to add in the cost of install if you can't do it yourself, plus paint.

how much does the install usually run ? 1000 ?

my sister did a front end conversion, cost her 3900 w/ parts, paint matching, and man hours

*give them specific instructions to NOT paint the ducts in the bumper or else you'll be having to paint it black yourself.
*this was paint that chipped the first day she got it; so the quality of the paint might be cheap.

Installation is free if you only use the top part of the jdm radiator where the headlights go... takes about 2 hours to align everything...after that, just screw the top part and the bottom of the "T" where the hood lock is together with some screws...

Could you or anyone else explain this a little more ( the part that is under lined)

I think they were implying that you can avoid having to weld in the JDM radiator support. I am just translating, not an expert.

that's how i read it too... but i've never heard of anyone just SCREWING it together... i've always heard of welds... for the kit... check out password.jdm, ebay, etc., etc.... it's usually 1000-1500... depending on quality, parts, etc. it's expensive anyway you do it, like others have said

No. I always thought that you had to drill the spot welds, remove the USDM radiator support, and weld in the full JDM radiator support.

i did the conversion by buying parts from extremedimensions. and used a USDM core.....wowser

Heres the link to where i got the idea from...its not much, only saves you a few couple hundred bucks...if you look closely to the USDM and JDM radiator support, only the "T" is different, where the headlights go and where the hood closes...this site tells you to weld it, but i opted not too, instead, i just screw it securely in place...saves the money and time, plus by doing this your frontend is still in one piece...took me less than 3 hours...have fun...oh yeah, alignment is key, if your headlights don't fit properly push the "T" down more than srew it in place...

I got my front end from http://www.jdmteory.com for about 1400 and after paint and install , witch all came out great it cost me about $2600.

I got my JDM OEM HID front end conversion from jdmtheory.com about a month or two ago....everything came in great shape and great people to deal with

my roomate (turbo(less)Db8) got his from jdmtheroy.com and the headlights were perfect, it even came off an SiR-G db8 and he has a 98 db8 gsr. for jdmtheroy. he may have pics if anyones interested.

Is the link bumafu posted a safe way to do it and why wouldn't using bolts be as safe as welding just want to know.

ok I get that you need to weld it what I am trying to find out is if that masetuning link is a good idea were the guy just welded the top of the radiator support in not the whole thing.
