Default Timing Belt/Water Pump - Cost - Labor + Parts

Hello,

Question in regards of having a shop replace my Timing Belt and Water Pump. I just got a quote from one shop because I was just there this morning and was wondering if this is a good price, normal, or a rip off.

They said that for a timing belt, water pump, and seals, they will charge $400.

They will order OEM parts from Acura.

I would do it myself, but I am not too comfortable with replacing timing belts and water pumps since I do not want to f*ck things up and end up benting some valves or whatnot.

In any case, what do you think about the price?

Good to know thank you.

Reason why I asked is because I would like to build a rep with a local shop. And since they did a great job with the install of my Twin Loop Muffler, I asked if they offered any other services.

Go and purchase a HElms Acura Service manual and do it yourself and follow the book word for word and save yourself about $200...

Why not download the helms manual for free? Search google for hondahookup and manuals.

If they are charging $400 for everything and will use OEM parts I would go for it. I was quoted $265 from a private shop and $325 from a Honda dealer just for labor. I decided I would do it my self and order all OEM parts online. I paid about $280 shipped for timing belt, tensioner, water pump, valve cover gasket, seals, and all 3 acc. belts. Some of the stuff I may not need to replace but I figured why not since I will have all the stuff taken off anyway.
