If you got it fixed would much did it cost?

I'm debating getting it fixed, or getting a used tranny with LSD?

I talked to my local shop. They talked about it costing 700 bucks to get JUST the third gear syncro replaced. 500 of that was in labor. BUT with my luck, i get to buy my friends trans off(B18C1 tranns that is) of him for 800 bucks, it has 25000 miles on it, opposed to mine with 91000 miles on it. sweet deal i must have to say.

How hard is it to replace the synchros yourself?
