1992 Acura Integra LS used, need opinions please.....
Hey, my friend was thinking about getting a 92 Integra LS coupe automatic with about 120,000mi on it. It has a good background check on carfax. This integra is up for sale for $899 which is a pretty good deal IMO.
How reliable is a 92 integra? I know its a honda but how many more miles do you guys think it has in it? He was thinking about doing a manual tranny conversion since he just learned how to drive a stick (i think). He wants to get used to and practice using a stick shift and use the integra as a daily driver or a beater for the next year. How much does a manual conversion cost?

Personally, I think its kinda too good to be true.
Here is the car: http://www.autotrader.com/find...ist=8
He hasn't looked at the car in person yet. Carfax says this car has 3 owners, clean title never stolen and no accidents (that they know of).
The seller is a dealer and in autotrader where it says comments he says "$500 down, interest free financing is available. Sales over $2000 come with a 24hr money back guarantee. 2 year warranties are available. Call & make a cash sale offer. Cash discounts available"

It's a dealer ad. It's only showing the amount of the down payment the dealer wants for the car. (basic slimey used car dealer bait and switch tactic) Retail Blue book on that car is prob. about $4,000.

thats a damned good price. but i could sell my 90 integra auto with 98k miles on it for close to 4 grand. get a carfax on that integra. i'm sure its been written off and they are selling it for whatever the insurance recommends.
to answer the reliability question:its very reliable. i think the auto is good for 170k-200k miles before a rebuild is needed. and a trans swap would be no more than $1k. might as well swap to a b16a at the same time for another grand. at least that is my plan for when my tranny dies. but, i haven't had any problems except a brake master cylinder and radiator. all known problems for hondas of that time period.

Is he getting this car at some sort of Police Auction? Was this car once owned by some sort of criminal mastermind that when he breaks out of prison he is coming to your house to look for his car. $900 is to good to be true.
Just remember u get what u pay for.

after reading the link he posted. it is determinant of a down payment of $500 dollars. maybe another $900 after. still a good deal at $1400. plus, they have 2 year warranties available. not a bad idea on an older car.

I did get a carfax on it, it has a clean title, never stolen, flooded, rollbacks, no reported accidents etc.
I agree this is kinda too good to be true.....

if hes a criminal mastermind, he would be smart enough to stay his *** out of prision. Besides why would he be driving a 92 integra LS, instead of a lincon or caddy.
