Default Taking Off Power Steering Belt???????

Hey I was just wondering how easy it is to take off your power steering belt. I just want a second opinion, but I am pretty sure that all you have to do is loosen the adjuster bolt and the belt shuold slip right off with no problems. Or is there something else?

Yes, loosen the two 12mm (I believe) mounting bolts and then loosen the wing nut thing and the belt will come right off. Remember to replace the mounting bolts or put them some where so you don't loose them just in case you want it back on.

When you took it off what do you do with the hoses?
And if you put it back on do you simply bolt it back on and
connect the hoses and refill the power steering?

Do you have to bleed the steering fluid somehow?

You can just leave all the equipment on because that way the system still gets lubricated. You can also take all the equipment off and set up a recirculating system (hook the two hoses together). The main thing is to leave fluid in the system for the lubrication, otherwise it can supposedly wreck your steering system.
Hopefully someone can share their experince on the recirculating system, as I have none with it.

I don't feel it to be unliveable without the PS, and I weigh like 125 or 130 lbs. The only part that sucks is when you are just sitting at a dead stop trying to turn the wheel. If you are at leas slightly rolling it is just fine. The nice thing is if you don't like it, just put the belt back on.

With regard to the recirc. system, I put together a simple system after looking at the system mentioned in this post https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=46120 I chose to add a reservoir to the system to make it easier to fill and monitor the fluid level, and I also removed the hard metal line from the rack and used a brass fitting to attach the hose rather than cutting the stock piece as seen in the pics. Hope this helps. I'm very happy with the way it turned out and I wouldn't want to go back to power assist.

A picture would be great if you've got one!

I love no P/S, I can "Feel" the road and i know when I'm going to loose traction much better than before... Parking lots are fun though, lol... and I'm sure I love those 3 pt. turns as much as you, hahaha

Do you guys notice a difference in power when you do take the belt off? Do have to take the belt all the way off or can you just slip it off? How hard is it to put back on?

I had the AEM pulley on before I removed the belt, so my gains may not be what most others get. With the AEM pulley, then removing the belt, I gained another 3-4 hp across the board.
Feels good. Can be hard at low speeds, but the feel is great...

That's it.... just loosen it up and wiggle that belt till it falls off. It only takes about 2 mins to get off. When you go to put it back on, you will be working against gravity, but it shouldn't take more than about 5 mins when you stick your arm down there to grab the belt after you slip it back over the crank pulley. Give it a try!

Just remove the belt, its good for 4-6whp. Do not remove the whole system. Its fine without the belt. Just retighten the bolts when the belts off.

i dont think you would gain much from the a/c belt because there shouldn't be much drag on the belt if you are not using your a/c. plus its a LOT harder to get to

its good for 4-6whp.
Is it really dyno proven for 4-6whp?

After reading this post, guess what I decided to do?! Yup, I took off the power steering belt! It was a sinch! I took her out for a spin and it's definately a lot more difficult. Taking corners and switching lanes is quite different too!

I gave her a little push to see if I could feel a difference, maybe... but I think it's might be psychological.

Anyhow, I'll keep it off for now.

<edit... hooked on phonics>
