be more specific when you say "Go JdM" because I have yet to find any Tails for a DA that are "JDM". Seriously though I want to know, because if there is, I'll look in to them.

Here's your 90-91 JDM tail lights, compliments of passwordjdm

Here's your 92-93 JDM tail lights, compliments of passwordjdm again

Yes yes, I know they look pretty much like USDM. But click the links and read the description and you'll see how they "differ" from USDM.

Yah I totally agree there's not much of a difference. That's why I put "differ" in quotes Because they do basically look the same. I wouldn't pay $100+ for JDM tail lights that look like USDM. I'de just make my own...oh wait, I already have twice

Anyway but hey DA9guy wanted to know so I figured I'de give him the info. If he buys them maybe he can clear up what this minus reflector thing really is...

heres what you need to do

buy some 90-91 taillights..from someone here..with the pink lines..

you can clear the top out, by taking them apart or using this castrol superclean stuff, i think...look on g2ic.com for the clearing tail lights tip..

oem clear top, red bottom tails..no ebay specials

Yah customizing is the way to go...my two sets are below.

Current ones:

I have red LEDS as brake lights so that they are legal, AND NOT PINK

Old ones:

And no, the reverse lights weren't blue...just "hyperwhite" or whatever they call it. But they are gone too, so.

Well although they are proclaimed to be JDM or whatever I already have some stock USDM that look exactly like those. However that guy with the modded lights dont look too bad, but they are kinda of pushing the EURO thing a tad. But not bad. I mistakenly bought some Carbon Fiber Tails (When I was stupid ) and I have never put them on yet. I was thinking they were a little ricey. Seriously though they are still sitting in my room still packaged. What do you think of the 92-93 CF tails though?

I agree, that the JDM tails do still look USDM. That's why I'de never waste my money on them. Just wanted to show that they are out there. When you say you got carbon fibre tails, you mean altezzas that are carbon fibre? If so . If they aren't what I'm thinking, please posts pics so I can see what they look like.

I'de also like to know why you think mine look euro. And I don't mean that badly, either. I actually am just curious as to how they are euro looking.

Here's more pics, and I assume you mean of my current ones:

And yes, I'm aware that the cheapo spray on chrome is chipping away. It was the unexpected result of removing the masking tape.

And last, slammin. Check out the link above to my part of the site dealing with the tails and how I made them. If you have more questions email me at kjw239@email.com

Well I know for sure they are not the altezzas that are carbon fiber. Ill try to get pics up soon to show you. I dont mean that your lights are straight up Euro, its just when I see that they are leaning a tad to the 'clear lense' side which translates to me "Euro". But with those pics posted ^^ I think they are not too shabby at all.

Personally I don't like these... They're kinda ricey but not at the same time. Don't get me wrong, they don't look horrible but what I did was for my 93 DA I just took the the stock tail lights and baked out the amber corner lenses and they look pimp as hell... it's a much cleaner look if you ask me. If you get the 90-91 tail lights they won't be as clear on the top as my modded 93's are. They will be more cloudy/pinkish color and that didn't fly with me. Just my .02

Johnny -

I don't know, guess I just wanted to be different and have something custom? Clearing out tail lights in my opinion is the new "JDM 1 piece headlights" craze for the 2nd gens. It's like you're not cool or something if you don't have the above.

That's just my opinion, and like you, I mean no harm by it.

Am I 100% happy with these tail lights? No, I'm not. But there's nothing really out there that I like that I can straight up buy, unmodded. And come this spring I think I'm going to make my 3rd set of tail lights. I've played around with an all red (minus the reverse light) idea, but I'm not all about that quite yet. Any suggestions?

And my first set of tail lights sound more similar to what you have...red on bottom all clear on top. Cept of course mine weren't stocks cleared out, they were cheapo clear tails painted red.

But hey, to each his own. I'm sure yours look good, and I'm overall happy with mine

How did you do that....I tried to use that castrol super clean and it didn't do anything to my tail lights. I have a 91 ls with the red bottom, pinkish top and I want to try to clear them up on the top and I would like to make them crystal clear for the reverse lights but I don't want to screw them up because tail lights for my car are expensive. By the way, my car is a 4 door so it's not like I can just get some other tails to experiment with. And I looked at g2ic.com and I wanted to know how you did yours....your old ones. Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Default Re: Tail lights (rainstateracer)

Well both sets of my tail lights started off as clear tail lights. I just painted what I wanted red, and masked off everything else. I don't think they make clear tails for 2nd gen 4 doors?... If they do, I haven't seen them (then again it's not like I really search for them since I don't have a 4 door).

Because of that, there's not much advice I can really give. I didn't have to clear anything out or remove and paint/color that was already there. I hate to not be able to help, but there's obviously more aftermarket tail lights available for the coupes, so it's easier to customize stuff. I've never even cleared tail lights before so I don't have any experience/tips/tricks.

These might be a start, don't know if the top is less pink then what you have (correct me if I'm wrong, these are for a 4 door right?)
