Default symptoms of bent valve

just wonderin what type of symptoms a bent valve would show besides the obvious. anyone experience white smoke from their exhaust?

im thinkin i might have a blown headgasket or a bent valve.

Just do a compression check, that can tell you if you have any bent valves.

Did you do a leakdown test too?

Idle will be bad, and when you accelerate it will sound like a nasty hole in your exhaust.

if you get the valve out of the head, put it in a drill and spin it- this will tell you if its bent.

OR in my case, half the damn valve was missing

ouch. that sucks.

i guess my headgasket is somewhat shot.

my idle is fine... so are my compression tests. i cant figure out why i blow all that white smoke out of my exhaust.

i still gotta do a leak down test.

is there any leaking around the gasket? oil in coolant or coolant in oil? Does the car overheat at all?

well you cant really check this without al ittle bit of work but the white smoke in my opinion is the result of bad valve seats or valve seals. It will cause a car to smoke

white smoke=burning coolant

i'd bet it's the head gasket....i hope mine doesn't go...i've heard it's quite expensive to replace...

- lack of power
- sputtering/popping/coughing exhaust note
- engine will will visibly shake/stutter at idle
- it will want to stall with timing set right
- increased oil consumption (valve seal may break on that valve)
- uneven compression at idle/ low compression in one or more cyl

it will eventually stop running.

nope. no signs of oil leaking around the gasket or any oil/coolant mixtures.

cant be valve seals. theres no signs of oil on the spark plugs. not sure about the valve seats.

I was with friend in my 2006 Honda Civic coupe Si and we scraped the oil pan really bad and broke two holes in it and it leaked all the oil out and we tried running it with no oil. Because we didn’t know what happened.... I replaced my oil pan and changed the oil and filter. But now when I accelerate it sounds like a raddling bolt or hole in the exhaust so to speak. You can hear the sound it sounds like the intake manifold or valve cover. So I’m thinking it has to be a valve... is there anything else this could be because of running the engine on no oil?
I posted earlier I thought but maybe I didn’t finish? Idk but anyway I’ll post again.

Take off the valve cover and check that all the adjustment nuts on the lifters are close to the same. I recently over revved my car and one of the adjusting nuts on the lifter turned itself all the way down.

Awhile back I have my 91 DB1 that has a B20VTEC engine in it. I would drive the car and would hit VTEC but it stutters for a little bit. When I was selling the car this guy came and drove the car said the engine has a bent valve on it. So we bargain the price down just a little and were able to sell my car.
