Default symptoms of a bad TPS

Hey guys i got a 1998 LS and every now and then it will stumble right around the 3000-4000 rpm range..Some days its really bad and other days it runs great, it only does it when its in gear and under load and when it does start messing up you can usually get through it by pressing the pedal down farther..
My question is is that signs of a bad tps? It kinda seems like it may have a dead spot in it or something, can anyone comfirm or maybe tell me what else to look for?

plugs, coil, cap, wires are all new

it shakes violently when gently giving gas at 1600rpm but it goes fine when your down on the gas. it also has this dead spot when lightly on the gas at idle.

wunfstgsr gave you the smartest answer just simply check it all you need is voltmeter, some reading to for know how and about 5 mins to actually do it! BTW your problems can be various things including tps

iono if its a tps, i had a bad tps and the problem it was giving me is that it would rev up and down wen at low rpm.
most of those are riveted to the throttle body so if that is the problem ull need the whole throttle body..

if u use a additive that goes into ur gas such as octane booster. the problem is going to be ur idle air control motor.

please do some research on how to check tps off of HT,team-integra,yahoo,google

yes the tps is riveted however you dont need a whole new TB as mentioned above to fix this, infact all the tools you need to fix the tps is worth no more than 5 buck(a simple screw driver etc),the tps can be out of range and all you need to do is loosen those rivets and move it back and forth untill you get 4.5,it needs to be replaced(yes only the tps LOL) if its not ready steady like 3 to 4 to 6 and back.

I stand corrected apparently you do have to buy a new TB according to honda when your tps dies however this is HT and it is full of DIY articles I will give you a link that shows you how to remove those rivets(they are actually screws) and what you need to adjust it too, remember if its only off but it keeps that reading steady(like 3steady or 6 steady) then all thats needs to be done is an adjustment,if you have no current or its fluctuating then you need to get a new tps off another tb from the junkyard, hope this helps

How that?... i am having similar problems, the alt belt cut my crank sensor wire halfway in to, i thought it was a bad spark module just had it tested and its fine, i did however use acetone several months back... which is an ingredient in octane boosters and fuel system cleaners, how can this damage my idle sensor?

i had this exact problem in my 95 ls swaped coupe. I replaced the tps and problem solved. i just took a hack saw, cut a flat spot into the rivet, then used a flat head screwdriver and it came off, poped a junkyard one on and have never had to deal with it agian. works and idles like new.

You set your voltmeter to Volts D.C. Probe inside the insulation til your red lead comes in contact with the red/middle wire to the tps...than touch the black lead to a ground. I use the battery ground but any unpainted metal surface should work. I've used my fuel rail before. All this with the key turned to the on position.

I just bought a tps at the suggestion of the guy at Advance Auto. My problem is my car starts fine when cold, but doesn't want to start right away when the engine's warm. I can get it to start by pumping the gas but he said I shouldn't do that. He just kept turning the key and it would almost turn over. Eventually after several tries it will start. Does it sound like that could be the problem to y'all? I have a 96 Accord, have replaced spark plugs, dist. cap, rotor, and they tested the starter and alternator and both are fine. Also has a new air filter and fuel filter and both 02 sensors have been replaced!
