I have started hear a strange noise coming from my GSR.
2001 integra gsr
170,000 miles
Skunk2 to and intake manifold

When I rev past 7000 rpm I hear a strange high pitched rattle coming from engine all the way to redline.
I have noticed the car seems to be loosing oil after 1000 miles or so. I have had a number of leaks that I've been fixing so I'm not sure it's entirely related to engine.

Any ideas Honda tech???

Well it could be anything, maybe a sound clip would help, or try and describe the sound better. Is the sound only after 7k to redline? These motor usually always burn some amount of oil depending on the milage or health of the engine especially when you use vtec. i would start with checking everything like a fine comb, look for loose belts anything out of the ordinary.

Thanks. Im wondering about belts and heat shielding rattling.
Does anyone think it could be engine internals? If so what might rattle?
I was thinking that I might be needing piston rings soon but this noise makes me wonder if its valve train.
It is a very mechanical rattle sound. I tried a couple recordings but it doesnt do anythng while car is idle. Only when driving

I would start with heat shields those can rattle at certain rpms i had this issue long time ago i ended up removing all the heat shields and the sound was gone and also look for loose belts ect.. Also check the valve lash won't hurt, i once had a horrible sound when revving the motor one day out the blue turned out the valve lash was somehow tight all over, how that happened i have no idea but after resting the lash motor sounded crisp.

seems similar like it did my buddy's car, it would squirt out a little bit of fluid. it was the weirdest thing.. he had some guy build the motor and ended up not torquing everything down correctly.
