Clean and then soak them in WD-40 monthly.

Doesn't sound too painful.. or how about just wrapping the threads and coils in like a clear seran wrap? Sounds kind of ghetto, but it should keep out most water and save your teins.. you might encounter moisture probs still though, so spraying the threads w/ WD once a month and cleaning them doesnt sound like a bad idea..

its a shame that a company like tein wouldnt resolve their rusting and seizing issues... its not like they're cheap

I thought I read somewhere that the newer Tein's are teflon coated because of this known problem. Call up Tein maybe they can do something for you.

I was curious also because I"m about to purchase some SS within the month. But if you guys said they are teflon coated it should be ok, hopefully.

You should be able to get rust prevent spray at any hardware store. Antisieze, teflon tape, etc...that should all be fine.

I coated mine with water resistant snowmobile grease from Napa. Seems to be a good protective coating.

someone mentioned lithium grease before, i dont know what that is, but its supposed to work.

Also, the higher end Teins come with a tube of special grease that is supposed to prevent rust. I could be wrong.
