I'm at a loss as to why my stereo doesn't work any more I checked any related fuses all good even the little one on the back of the unit it's self. According to the under-dash fuse box the radio and cig lighter are connected so in theory it should be down also but it's not. Will just ditch the stereo/speakers if it can't be fixed but I'd like to have it.

Sure. I had to do this in my Jeep.
Just run direct wires from the battery to the stereo and see if the deck turns on. If it does, its your wiring, if it doesn't, its the deck.

as in when the key is in the I position and II(acc) ? I just stopped working that's what confuses me. i'll be splitting the loom a bit more and see if I nicked something important, the previous owner didn't really use a plug n play harness it's just twisted in and covered in electrical tape. Also going to take a test light to the 12v and 12v ACC just to confirm I'm getting power if not well i'll try n trace it there not much as far as wiring left in the dash any more save from my blinkers, hazzard, dash dimmer and the cluster plugs.
