Speedometer cutting out

Speedometer cutting out
I have searched threads and most of them never had a solution to the problem. Out of the blue my speedo started jumping around and after a few minutes it will just stay at zero. I have a dc so it doesn't have the speedo cable just the clip and wiring. After about 10 minutes the cel will come up and throw code 17, vss. I checked the wiring going to the ecu, the ground, and the wire going to the speedometer. My trip meter still works and it still keeps track of the miles. I checked my speed sensor, and everything appears to be in good shape, greased and spins freely. I even put electrical grease in the plugs. Anymore ideas will be greatly appreciated!

Update: I put in a new speed sensor, and didn't fix the problem. Today, I picked up another cluster and still nothing. The connector to the vss is clicked in and at this point i'm stumped.

The plug could not be getting good contact! pull the plug out and check to see if theres corrosion or a damaged plug. usually grease dirt and old coolant can build up on it and cause a bad connection seen it a few times even on my GSR.

I depinned the plug and check the wires and they were all fine and making good contact and still nothing...Any other ideas thanks for the input it sucks because i have a launch control set at 4000 and it thinks i'm going 0 mph so i can't go over 4000 when im going through my gears.

I forgot to add that the speedometer does work every once and a while. It will work for a minute or two then just drop to 0, especially if I go over a bump.

Re: Speedometer cutting out
I know that it has to be a wiring issue at this point. The speedometer now works 50% of the time and sometimes it will work fine and the cel light will come on for the speed sensor. Does anybody know how i can pin point where the wiring issue could be. I soldered a new wire and pin going into the ecu, checked the wiring going into the gauge cluster and de pinned the wires into the vss plug and they all look good. Any ideas would be appreciated this is really bugging me.

Re: Speedometer cutting out
get rid of that stupid L/C I've heard of it messing with the spedo before. try a stock(virgin ECU), in the of chance you're using a s300 just disable it LC/2STEP/ANTILAG all that stuff is pointless on a N/A DD.

UPDATE: I tried a bunch of different things and at this point my speedo works again, however after about 5 minutes of driving, the cel comes on, but my speedometer is still working. Any ideas?
