Default Slight front end shake when I accelerate

I have a 96 Integra GSR 4dr. Here is the 411, about a week ago while doing an oil change I noticed the inner CV boot driver side had a small tear in it, so I went to AutoZone to get a new boot but ended up just buying a whole reman half shaft. After I installed the new shaft I noticed a wobble out of the front end only when I accelerated 0-30 ish. I put it back on the lift and discovered the driver side outer tie rod end was worn out (too much play) So I thought that might be the cause, so I went back to AZ and I bought a new one installed it and I still got the same wobble. A few days later I called A-zone and told them what was going on and found out the axel they gave me was for a 96 Integra GSR W/O ABS. My car does has ABS. I jumped online and found out the non abs shaft is a tiny bit shorter. Sweet that has to be the problem, Bad news was they could not order me the correct part for some reason. So I got my money back and found the correct axel shaft (NEW) not remanufactured from Kregan auto parts. So after I installed the new shaft , the wobble is almost nonexistent now, but it’s not completely gone. Today I just rotated my tires, balanced the wheels and went in for a 4 wheel computerized alignment and my issue is 80% better but not 100% fixed. What else can cause this problem?? It’s only noticeable and low speeds under acceleration.

Most of the non OEM axles are missing a balancer on the shaft. Some wobble and some do not. OEM, and Raxles have balancers, and I do not know about others. Balancer is on here, though not easily visualized as it would be seen on a shaft.

Weird, the old axel that I removed didn't have the balancer on it.

Some wobble, some do not. If all wobbled, then all would be removed. I have one without a balancer and it is good, but the next, other side wobbled. Fixed with change to Raxles.

Could it be that my motor mounts are old?

Sure, but did they change? You changed axles and have eliminated many other common causes. In addition, it changed somewhat with another axle change, so, I would think axles first.

i had the same problem once and it was that i forgot to tap the locker in on the axel nut. just a suggestion. if that is not the case then i would try to have the tires balanced just to rule that out as a problem. check your ball joints also. just make sure everything is tight and that lockingtab is tapped in on the outer axel nut.

Today I just rotated my tires, balanced the wheels and went in for a 4 wheel computerized alignment, also replaced the outer tie rod on the driver side.

Only during acceleration? I toasted my ball joints (uppers and lowers) and it caused a mean shake. I also had this problem, only shook during accel.. So I got some brand new axles (not reman anymore. too many problems) and a new OEM honda wheel bearing. . shake is gone! Check your hubs/ball joints and tie rods. I've seen a combination of all do weird things. Some shake during accel, some on decel, some without any load on... << that sounds funny.

As far as the axle goes, I tried 2 Autozone re-mans and now I'm on a new one not re-man that I got from Kregan auto parts. Funny thing is when I installed the new one from kregan the wobble seem to almost go away, but now after a month the shake is back. The passenger side axle is stock and has the little balancer on it, none of the replacement axles had the balancer.

I had similar and read several threads, and solved it with Raxles with balancer. I have one axle with and one without. If you get a good axle without the balancer it is fine, but you can go through several. I wanted to eliminate the new axle as the problem, and all shaking stopped with Raxle. Of course it could be something else, but when you get tired of trying and installing new axles, then Raxles, or OEM with balancer.

Quite a bit more than generic, especially without a trade in. He takes the OEM with balancer in trade. Call him, great and knowledgeable guy, and good site to learn in.

I think I found out the cause of my wobble. The axle I got installed now is this one ---> http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Det...50001+2001002#

The Axle I'm pretty sure I need is this one ---> http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Det...50001+2001002#

Notice the Sub model on the lower one says (GS-R) the other one does not say.

I just got new Raxles for my GSR. I have vibrations, but those are wheel bearings and bad tires. Both of which being replacing soon. Raxles are top shelf remans. I paid $130.00 for each axle for mine. Plus shipping, as they are located in FL, but it also pays for the core return shipping. Just a little more than autozone remans, but you get the quality and piece of mind....

Right on, I think I'm going to give Napa one more chance to get me the correct axle. If that doesn't work I'll bite the bullet and order up from Raxles.

Okay I figured out the shake in my front end. I took my current wobbly axle into the dealer and had them compare it to there GS-R axle. Turns out the axles I keep getting from the auto parts stores are for LS/RS/GS automatic transmission. The GS-R axle is slightly different on the female portion of the axle. The automatic axle does fit but its considerably larger and taller on the inner basket than the GS-R axle thus when installed caused it to wobble. So i went back to the auto-parts store armed with my new knowledge and had them pull all the axles listed for my car and I went thru them all. Get this,I found the correct axle in a box listed as Special edition W/or W/O abs brakes. So clearley most of the auto parts stores has them labeled and box wrong. Went back home put the car on the lift installed the new axle, and it seem to fit alot more snug. Took it for a drive, saaaaaaawwwweeeeeeet. No wobble or shake at all!!!
Now I can sleep easy tonight here are a few pictures the first 2 are the wrong axle the 2nd 2 are the correct axle.
