you have to be more specific.. what car is it?? i notice your topic says LS? u cannot have VTEC in an LS and if your friend drives a GSR im assuming he meant there are no more secondary butterflies opening at 5700.. lots of noobs here ALWAYS thinks VTEC hits at 5700 because it gets louder. with that IM, VTEC should hit at 4500 which bogs out and needs to raised up to 5k and up hope this help

I meant was he has gsr head on a ls block and a skunk 2 intake manifold. we just installed the manifold and his vtec doesn't work anymore. when he was using the stock gsr manifold on his setup his vtec worked good but his vtec doesn't work anymore after we installed the skunk 2 intake manifold..

To repeat what the other guy asked, are you sure VTEC is not working or are you just assuming it isnt because you no longer hear the secondary throttle butterflies opening at 5700 rpm? As he said, that dramatic change in engine intake noise at 5700 rpm is NOT the VTEC changover but the opening of the butterfly valves in the intake manifold - the same butterflies you eliminated by installing the Skunk2 manifold.
If indeed the VTEC is not working, the installation of the new manifold should not have affected it - unless the VTEC solenoid or pressure switch got unplugged during the installation?
