Default Shotpeen ls rods

What does it mean when they refer to shotpeen ls rods when doing a ls / vtec?

Shotpeening.....means strengthening of the rod...in other words...make rods stronger

Does shotpeening really help make the rod stronger? Where to get it done at and do most machine shops do it? I'm in the middle of a rebuild

yes i am curious of this as well where can this be done at how reliable is it cost and so on is it just worth the money to get eagle rods?

quick thought, before any money is spent on the stock rods, consider the 4340 aftermarket rods {like eagle} you can grab for $300. when you consider the bankroll you are going to drop on a motor build, rods are not a place you want to skimp.

ya thats what i was thinking but if these shotpen ls rods are cheap and decent for stock ls vtec wouldnt be a bad idea for some temp stuff until more power is added and money can be spent

i think he's refering to the fact that you would need to take 1 mm or so, off each side of the ls rods to fit itr pistons. (correct me if i am wrong honda-tech).
