separating intermediate shaft from axle. having some trouble.
im not able to get the axle and the intermediate shaft separated. ive read about a locking clip, but i cant really find it, and i sorta dont want to just take a screwdriver and start plucking at things. whats the best way to separate these two? also, the part of the intermediate shaft that goes into the tranny has the cup looking thing is a little bent, so its not 100% flush to the tranny. should i try to flatten it out with a rubber mallot? how bad would i leak tranny fluid if it wasnt 100% flush?

sometimes when i have trouble seperating the two i use this really old chisel i have.

kinda looks like above. its pointed but the point isn't very deep if that makes sense. i take that and put it in between the axle and int. shaft and hammer it in. hope that makes sense and always has worked for me.

I will go ahead and tell you, you cant be a ***** with it. You have to be strong.
Get a prybar and stick it in between the intermediate shaft and the axle, then be quick (pry fast --one motion) this works better than prying hard.
Hope this helps..Good luck

haha when it comes to not wanting to break ****- im a total *****.
should i just hold the intermediate shaft and use a chisel on the solid back part of the inner cv joint and hammer the bastad out then?

I'd say just hammer it out, I recently did my first axle change and I found out that if your too worried about breaking ****, it could actually end up worse...
