rpm goes 1000 to 4000 to 1000 to 4000 help!!
I think it might be an exhaust leak but not sure. No mods except JUN flywheel. Its a 94 gsr with 211,200 miles. My car is turned on, 1 minute later the rpm goes from 1000 to 4000 to 1000 to 4000 etc. I step on the pedal up to 5000 than it goes back to the 1000 to 4000 to 1000 etc. Any advice. Thanks guys.

sounds like the fast idle thermo valve to me i had the same problem a couple weeks ago (surging idle) its an easy fix . remove the throttle body and underneath it is the fitv remove it and inside screw in the white piece(it backs itself out , bad design that honda did away with a few years later) replace everything and that should do the trick

its the iacv. it happens to lots of hondas. just take it off, spray it out with carb cleaner and put it back on.

I just did mine (FITV). Took about 1 hour working at a slow pace. The hardest part was taking off the coolant lines. I think loctite would of been great if I had any around. Thanks guys! I knew if i took it to a local mechanic, they would of probably charged $150+ for that.
