Ricey jumps to an Integra
So some who browse both the Integra and Civic sides of the site might know that I have a '97 EX. To keep things short, was my dads who had previously riced it out quite a bit and that I de-riced but also threw in my own rice-ness. I recently, as in two days ago purchased a '98 RS. Got quite a few plans for both cars actually though I'm keeping the Civic side of things where it belongs and the Integra side of things here. So here's a pic of both.
More info about the Teggy.
Year: 1998
Model: RS
Engine: B18B1 failomatic transmission
Miles: 117,xxx
Exrtra info: Was female owned, still has the floor mats and the decklid for the hatch, no leaks on the motor besides a small one on the valve cover and cam seal, at a first and overall glance there's no visible rust and also no dents anywhere on the car other than a small bend in the corner of the hood and the front bumper as seen. So got a lot planned for the car and hopefully I'll be able to go further with it than I was able to with my Civic. Civic is being kept btw, going to be rebuilt and cleaned up for my little brother.

Re: Ricey jumps to an Integra
Well I'm on a payment plan with a friend of the family so I'm paying him $200 for ten months or shorter if I pay off chunks so basically $2000 for it including a spare door and window for the drivers side.

Re: Ricey jumps to an Integra
So I've done a few things to the new ricer though nothing out of the ordinary.
I don't believe it's a real deal Type-R spoiler since it doesn't say Honda anywhere on it, but in my opinion it looks pretty good minus a couple of chips in the paint.
The Drivers side window was also badly vandalized however when I bought the car I have a spare door and window. Was going to replace the door and window however my door in decent shape, other than needing to be cleaned up and obviously repainted along with the rest of the car, so I replaced only the window. This is a pick of before haven't taken any pictures of the clean glass.
Also as you can see decided to use my Fits for the Teg. Not much happening with it for the next few days, going to check out a set of leather gs-r rear seats tomorrow since they seem like a deal, almost too good to be true deal. May possibly sand the car down but that most likely happen until closer to time to paint it.

Re: Ricey jumps to an Integra
So big big big update since last I posted.
Windsheild has some small cracks in it but got replaced, also got my rear tower bar in, replaced rear brake pads, had an issue with losing a wheel and going through a set of tires as well as some bad paint decisions. Purchased a lip for the car got the interior pretty well cleaned out, and as of two days ago stripped out the panels and carpet from the rear of the car in prep for re-wiring my speakers as well as more cleaning. I will be trading my Fits for a set of GT3's on Monday and have made plans to do a thorough clean up of the engine bay.
Couple of pics just to give an idea of what madness I've been up to.

Re: Ricey jumps to an Integra
Basically I was an idiot and lost the key to my lug nut. Had 15mil spacers on the front and they were lose, but I hadn't really noticed anything out of the ordinary other than a slight popping noise but I knew my axle was bad. Well long story short, pulled out of my coul-de-sac onto a side road and it had a slight curve to it next thing I know... front drops and I see my wheel rolling down the street into a yard. So yeah basically my spacer was loose and it just wore and snapped my studs.

People might call me a dick but I dont condone rice.
Get that p.o.s out of here. Ypur on payment plans but already fixing the car up? Idk what was worst. The red/silver or black /red. With anime decal on the hood. Omg. Do ypurself a favor and get ride of it. The money could have gone towards your civic
But I guess ypur helping a family friend.. You prolly wouldnt be able to buy a different car and the owner agreeing to $200 a month

Re: Ricey jumps to an Integra
Well considering I've already payed the car off and it's mine... I'm pretty sure I'm free to do as I wish to my car. Also it's not a decal it's hand painted which means I've put real time into the car and I don't see anyone else with enough ***** to stand out from the crowd and do the same. The reason it was red/silver was because before I bought the car it was damaged and the previous owner replaced the parts. The red/black is all done in spray paint I had laying around the garage and was done to see what color I want to go with. The civic also was not mine to own as the title belongs to my dad which is being held by the state due to past issues and was also in much worse off condition with almost double the mileage on the car.
So far I've spent maybe a grand total of $100 on the car besides the 2000 I payed for it so before you start just throwing your own uninformed opinions around maybe stop and think that maybe I haven't really put money into it. Oh and I'm sorry that not everyone can just throw money around into their car when I work at a theme park part-time, go to school full-time, and pay for all my own bills and living expenses.
They don't call them WORK IN PROGRESS or PROJECT cars for nothing.

if all you can afford to do is buy paint so u can turn it into an art project, then maybe having a "project" car isnt in your best interest.

Re: Ricey jumps to an Integra
Notice how I said paint "I had lying around the garage".
Let throw out the list of things I have done to the car since buying it.
-New valve cover gasket, along with cam seal gaskets.
-Replaced the driver window because it was vandalized.
-Had windshield replaced which had several cracks and chips in it.
-Oil change, transmission fluid change, air filter replaced.
-Interior currently being stripped to clean and have wiring for speakers, interior lights, and hatch lock to be repaired.
-"New" wheels and tires.
-Replaced fender and repaired damage from broken studs and lost wheel (brake rotor and studs).
-Lip and rep type-r wing, cleaner headlights and ambers that had to be repaired.
And you know what, the only things I've really paid for so far are the seals/gaskets, studs, fender, and lip. This has all also been done within the past month, besides oil change and seals so I'd say what I've been able to with the car in the very limited amount of time I have I'm doing as good a job as anybody else you seem to think has a more "legit" or "non-ricer" build. So what if I've got anime girls all over my car, I prefer to stick out and do stuff nobody else seems to think is cool because it means I've got something different for people to talk about instead of just the same old crap you see at every single car show.
It may never be some 1000whp k-series on boost running 9's but as long as I enjoy driving it I don't give a damn what other people think of it, but I'm not going stand by as some keyboard warrior decides to think that he knows what's best for my car when he doesn't even have a clue of what all has been done, what all is being done, and what all is already planned for.

Re: Ricey jumps to an Integra
Alright so did a bit of work today, nothing really special other than super awesome ricer A/C delete for weight reduction!
No but in all seriousness I never use A/C, and since I didn't even have a belt on my compressor to begin with, it's not like I'm going to miss it much. I have a couple interested in buying the hoses and compressor and I'm moving into an apartment on Saturday so yeah... extra cash would be nice to have.
Also replaced my distributor O-Ring since I believe it was the main culprit for my oil loss, also managed to wrastle the exhaust heat shield bolts loose to find I was missing two nuts from the right most port along with missing one of the larger bolts where the exhaust hits it's 4-2 point. I have however noticed it's very wet around my oil pan so that could explain some of the oil loss as well, I wiped everything down and tightened the nuts best I could for a temp fix until I can get a new gasket and oil.
Already made a note that on my next day off, that I'm not busy moving furniture into the new place, I'll be doing a hard clean of everywhere in and out of the car.
Found this beauty on the side of the road, don't know that I need it but always good to keep spares. Guy I got it from bought a body kit for his car so left it out for trash.
Dizzy o-ring, slightly larger than the OEM one and it took a bit of work getting it to sit back into the motor but will hopefully be for the better.
Heat shield off, and A/C out. LET THE MASSIVE WEIGHT SAVING BEGIN!!!
Another thing to do in the near future is either fix my bumper or replace it since it seems that it had seem some damage and is making it a pain to get my light aligned. It appears that it's the only thing that's damaged since everything else around that part of the rad support is in good condition. I'll most likely just replace it.

Re: Ricey jumps to an Integra
So I've been noticing a small issue arising in the past week or so, I've been getting a stuttering feeling from the car when I accelerate through the lower rpm's typically after I've been driving for a bit in stop-and-go traffic or on 35mph> roads. A few times it's actually almost died out completely, I've also notice I get a bit of stuttering from the car if I'm sitting at a light for too long.
Stopped by Autozone and they think it's either my alternator or an issue somewhere in line with my fuel system. I have had a few issues with my alternator in the past but lately it's been working fine, no issues starting and not noticing any power loss (lights and stereo wise), so I'm thinking it's most likely somewhere in the fuel system.
Wondering what small things I could do to help with the issue, such as replace filters, injector cleaner etc?

Re: Ricey jumps to an Integra
Thanks man, yeah worse is, my headlights on there right now are in better shape than the old ones. Paint is in the works though I'm a little more focused on getting the car in better running shape first. Have a set of Energy Suspension bushings on their way, and had a couple people send me some hits on some lower end coilovers.

Re: Ricey jumps to an Integra
It's finally one color... well mostly.
Not pretty but then again neither am I so whatever I'm not trying to impress people.
Didn't take pictures but replaced some seals on the motor, new oil filter, ran some injector cleaner and some PI just to de-gunk the motor a bit.
Megan coil sleeves are in, I know I know they're cheap, I literally drive this car maybe 10 miles a day at most. Don't have pictures right now but will post tomorrow or monday.

Re: Ricey jumps to an Integra
Like I said it's one color-ish.
Lowered it down.
Will be rolling fenders at some point this week.
And of course the ricer vinyls. Lot of guys hate 'em, my car I like 'em and enjoy being able to support groups I like.
So yeah... it's not pretty but it's had some progress and little by little is getting to the point I want it to be at.

Re: Ricey jumps to an Integra
since you don't see anyone doing the same and putting some real time into their car. Here is a shot of my built/boosted ( by me ) 368HP integra. The underside of the hood is custom cut .030 aluminum to cover the frame and give me a clean canvas, then I drew a paint mask with a pencil, transfered it, then got busy with the airbrush gun to do the ninja turtle graphic. Now this is time and effort. So yes, other people are truly putting in work!

I only post because of the comment I saw saying, " I don't see anyone else putting in real work on their so....." earlier in this thread...
