it just resets ur ecu...so your car now knows it has a performance part...
disconnect battery....for 15 mins...then turn on your car let it idle for 3 min turn it off and then turn it on again

It will adjust to the new variables its sensors are giving. A good example is the CAI thing...It will sense that air is coming in at a greater rate and is colder, and It will adjust your fuel supply and some other things accordingly, therefore making the engine perform better. I'm sure someone else here has a better explaination.

u dont need to do all that jazz to reset your ECU.. you can reset it with the push of a button on the 3rd gen integras! reach under your steering wheel with your right hand.. run your hand towards the center along the lip of the dash under the steerting wheel. You will find a little square button that will reset the ECU.

I think the ignition has to be at least on, or to accesory. I reset it when the engine is running to.. doesnt seem to disturb anything. Push and hold it for a few secs. your CEL will come on then go off.

Are you sure that hitting that button fully resets the ECU??? I have never heard that. I know it resets the maintenance required light, but you're saying that it fully resets it...that would be cool if it was the case though.

To answer the gas mileage question...you shouldn't lose gas mileage, in fact you may gain a mile or two per gallon. The reason is that since the air is colder, it combusts more powerfully therefore needing less gas to make the same amount of power.

uh no you are COMPLETLEY Wrong. thats to reset the maintenance required light that comes on annually telling you to change your oil. that has nothing to do with your ecu.

disconnecting the negative battery terminal or removing two of the fuses (back-up and someo ther one, the two top left ones i believe) will reset your ecu.

Why don't you just remove the ecu fuse?!?!?!. It's the same thing, and you won't have to set everything in your car again, like your radio, and clock, etc.

Pulling out the fuses on the fuse box below the right side of the steering wheel will reset it, I heard.

But you don't really need to reset it immediately because after 1 day or so the ECU just automatically adjusts to the new aftermarket part.
I read that in this forum somehwere.

Why wait one day, when it'll only take 1 minute to remove the ecu fuse. That way you won't have to drive around with a crazy idle.
